Integrated security problem

Hello,

I'm having a problem adding integrated security to an asp.net web
application. IIS runs on server A and SQL server runs on server B.

The folder containing the web application is set to run in a particular
NT user's identity, let's call that identity "web_user".

The problem is that when it opens a connection to SQL server using
integrated security, web_user's credentials don't get passed.

Both machines use a Windows 2000 operating system. My understanding of
the documentation is that if both machines use Windows 2000, IIS should
be able to pass the user's credentials onto SQL server.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks very much,
Jason

Hello, We have a C#.NET app which runs as a windows service. Periodically it needs to post information via the internet to a remote server. For the posting, we are using HttpWebRequest class. This service gets deployed to customer machines. In cases where they use a proxy server, they complained that our service did not respect the proxy settings they entered via Internet Explorer. In an earlier post to this

Hi I have an application which has been deployed and worked fine on all previous workstations, it is c# based and uses Crystal connecting directly to MSDE using stored procedures and the ConnectionInfo object. Once deployed the ConnectionInfo object is used to overwrite the connection settings for...

Hi It is possible that IIS and SQL Server can reside on Seperate Machines and you can use Integrated Windows Authentication to connect. Ravikanth >-----Original Message-----

Our intranet is running under windows integrated security. We have domain users that want to access our intranet site via ssl vpn. SSL VPN can not authenticate against services that run under windows integrated security. In order to get around this issue it seems that we would need to create a login page on a separate site that runs under anonymous security. Then pass the users credentials to the site running under integrated security. ...

This problem occurs in ASP.Net application, only on Windows 2000. Everything works fine on Windows Server 2003. Here is the scenario: I configured the application to use impersonation and integrated security to connect to the database. These are the corresponding lines in web.config <identity impersonate="true" userName="our_domain\our_user" password="the_password" />

I am writing a Windows forms VB.Net/MS SQL application via VS 2003 that utilizes Crystal Reports. I want to be able to dynamically set the report data source at run time. I'm trying to change the the reports "integrated security" from TRUE to FALSE via the "Set Location" dialog in the report designer with no success. It is not intuitive (at least not to me.) I get the following error:

Hello all, I have found a problem accesing a web service hosted in IIS 5.0 in a W2K box. The web service site is configured to accept both integrated windows authentication and client certificates. I have a WinForm 2.0 client application and when it presents a certificate it works fine, but when it tries to access the web service using integrated security it times out. Both accesses are via an https: uri. Moreover, an .aspx page in the...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
