In SQL Server 2000, I've got a rather lengthy stored procedure, which
creates a lot of temporary tables as it processes down through a few
sets of data.
When testing it through Query Analyzer, it runs fine (a bit slow
though). But when I try to run it through the ade, it doesn't do
anything. It runs through the procedure in milliseconds but doesn't
seem to ever actually start it. If I change the calling code in the
ade VBA to refer to...

I've created a system or external trigger on an AS/400 file a.k.a DB2 table.
(Note this is an external trigger defined with the ADDPFTRG CL command, not
a SQL trigger defined with the CREATE TRIGGER statement.) I've also defined
a SQL stored proc, and the trigger is set to call this SP. I've posted the
simplified source below. I can manually call the stored proc, and the
external trigger is created without any errors. However, when I do...

I'm working on a win appication that is constantly querying a small-sized
DB. Until now, I've been using Selects from within my app but, all of a
sudden I remembered of an application I was working on a year ago (with
PowerBuilder) that queried the DB by invoking stored procedures that return
the data to the application. One of the main problems was that there were
over 100 SPs so it was pretty difficult to maintain. So my question: Is...

Apologies for the cross-post, but this truly is a two-sided question.
Given the option of creating Looping statements within a stored proc of
sql server or in the code-behind of an .net webpage, which would you
choose and why?
Reason I ask is I created a webpage which essentially runs through a
litany of loops to determine which stored proc to kick off. This is
written in the code-behind. It occurred to me that I could probably
just...

Hi
When developing vb.bet winform apps bound to sql server datasource, is it
preferable to use SELECTs or stored procedure to read and write data from/to
SQL Server? Why?
Thanks

I am maintaining an application where most of the business rules are in
Triggers, Stored Procedures and User Defined Functions. When a bug
arises, it can get very tedious to debug. Today for example, I wanted
to modify a function that was being called by a trigger. The problem
is that I don't want to change the function, for fear that it is being
called by one of the other SP's or triggers in the database (there are
hundreds of them)

I'm a stored proc guy, but a lot of people at my company use inline
sql in their apps, sometimes putting the sql in a text file, sometimes
hardcoding it. They don't see much benefit from procs, and say anyway
they're are db specific- what if we change from SQL Server to Oracle
one day?
What say you experts? Is this one of those "no right answer"
questions?
Thanks,

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
