Distributed Transactions across Linked Servers

Hello.

One of our database developers is running into a problem when trying
to get distributed transactions to work across linked servers. (SQL
2005 to SQL 2000).

The specific error message is:

"Msg 8501, Level 16, State 3, Procedure _Test2, Line 12 MSDTC on
server 'MSDB02' is unavailable."

I've check to confirm that the DTC service is running on both
machines. We've read over these article/discussions:

http://www.thescripts.com/forum/thread82878.html
http://www.google.com/search?q=MSDTC...is+unavailable
Any suggestions on what we can do to trouble-shoot this?

Thank you.

Having a SQL Server 2K (SP3a) with a link to another SQL Server 2K (no service packs), distributed transactions works as expected most of the time. But occasionally the MSDTC(s) seems to fall in a state of failure, causing the following error when involving distributed transactions: "The operation could not be performed because the OLE DB provider 'SQLOLEDB' was unable to begin a distributed transaction. OLE DB error trace ."

Hi, I am seeking the help of volunteers to test some software that I've developed which facilitates distributed two-phase commit transactions, encompassing any resource manager (e.g. SQL/Server or Oracle) controlled by Microsoft's Distributed Transaction Coordinator in a Windows2000 environment, with any resource manager under the control of DECdtm (e.g. Rdb (or Oracle via the XA Veneer)) in a VMS environment.

I have 2 services, ServiceA and ServiceB. Certain user driven functions require ServiceA to perform some DB tasks, before sending a request to ServiceB to perform some additional tasks. If ServiceB fails to execute the request, I would like ServiceA to rollback its changes. ServiceA and ServiceB are located on 2 different servers on the same network. I am struggling to find resources that cover this scenario. most articles that discuss...

My ASP.Net 2.0 web site has a Data.xsd schema. I just added a table adapter to the collection and configured it to use an existing SQL 2000 stored proc. When I tried to preview data from the table adapter, I got "SQLOLEDB was unable to begin a distributed transaction" error. The stored proc joins SQL 2000 tables via three linked servers. The stored proc is declared on Win2003Host. Two of the linked servers (Win2003A, Win2003B) running...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...
