DSN ODBC pwd not saved when SSIS package imported

DSN ODBC pwd not saved when SSIS package imported

SQL Server 2005 SP2 (Windows 32bit version)

Implemented and FULLY tested a SSIS package with BIDs.
This package uses a Data Reader object using a ODBC data source with a stored username (uid) and password (pwd).
These are saved with the package locally.

I then import the package directly in to SQL Server.
I then create a scheduled SQL Agent job to run this package daily. When I look at the Data Source tab which lists all data sources this package uses the password is not listed.
I then ran this job and as I expected it did not run because of the missing password.
If I modify the data source within the job it lets me but it doesn't save the password.

The DSN in ODBC Administator actually saves the password in the registry. Why doesn't SQL Server store the encrypted password.

I needs this to work otherwise my project will fail.

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks,
Regards,
Richard.

I´m using the following code to execute a SSIS package: string pkgLocation; Package pkg; Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.Application app; DTSExecResult pkgResults; pkgLocation = @"C:\test\Package.dtsx"; app = new Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.Application();

Hi, I need to call an SSIS package from ASP.NET 2.0 web page. First I triy to call it directly from the asp.net page, as the following: Dim app As New Application Dim pack As Package = app.LoadPackage("C:\GetNorthwindEmployee.dtsx", Nothing) Dim result As DTSExecResult = pack.Execute() This fails although the same code in Windows app works. I think it's a security rights issue so I give the full control right to the dtsx file and

I have 2 variables, one is the column name of the table and the other one is the table name and I need to write this in the "Execute SQL task" of a "For each loop" container in a ssis package like this: Truncate table <tableName> Insert into <tableName> Exec (' select from '+ ?) It gives me error message when I try run the ssis. However if I put the above statements into a stored procedure and wrote look this, it

Hi I've got an Ingres database of some 200 tables which I need to import every night into SQL Server 2005 for use by Reporting Services. Most of the tables will come across unchanged (a few need massaging to handle time intervals correctly), but the Import Wizard only seems to want to import one table (or more accurately query) at a time. I seem to remember the old 2000 Import Wizard handled multiple tables - is there any way of...

We have spent days trying to perform a proof of concept and I am dissappointed with SSIS to say the least. We are trying to connect and fetch data from a Double Byte Progress database and the "DataReader Source" using a ADO .NET ODBC provider does not work! I understand that SSIS is a totally rewritten version of DTS. What annoys me is that this functionality used to work in DTS and does not in the much talked about SSIS!! Will someone in...

Hello everyone, I imported a DTS package from SQL2000 to SQL2005. The problem is the package fails during validation. That happens because some temp tables are created at some point of the package and the validation reaches a point where those tables are used. While the execution of the package is successful at SQL2000 (where temp tables are created during runtime and used afterwards), validation fails at the point where these tables...

My goal is to convert dbf to sql server database using SSIS. The package will run periodically say once in 24 hrs. and again update the data in sql server from dbf file. For this is need to create package and schedule a job using job agent. As I am new to SSIS, my question is like I don't want to overwrite the records everytime the package runs, it means I m required to check which records are alredy existing in the database. So do I need to...

I'm new to SSIS. Can someone point me in the right direction on how to execute an SSIS package from a button OnClick? With DTS in SQL2000, I just created a job that ran the DTS package and then ran the job from a Stored Procedure. Thanks! Phil

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
