How to make DLookUP function works..

1 New Member
hey all,
I have tried to use the select statement instead DLookUp function as i have sql server at my backend and access as my front end.

But neither DLookUp function is working nor select state is working....
is there any other alternative way that i could make that run...

my code is

strEmail = DLookup("email" , "owner", "name='Master_T able![Prim_Name]'")

and i treid

dim s as string
s = "Select email from owner where name = ' " & Master_table![Prim_Name]&" ' "

doCmd.OpenQuery (s)

now how could i get my email from this query. It is not giving me any output...

Thx in advance.

I have a Public function which creates a back up copy of a back end. It works fine with the source path and source file as C:\folder\etc. I thought I would try to store the paths in a table so that any future changes could be made in the table rather than going into the code. I have been trying to get DLookup to work as below. Any reason why I should be getting probs ? I have tested these in a text box and they return as expected.

Hello all, I already put the same question, only now I have more to tell ... Although I used this code before in the same routine (only the fieldname of the table differs) ___ at this point in the code I get the error "You canceled the previous operation" err msg. When clicking on Help I get a white screen. I haven't got the slightest idea what it means .... I pinned down that this error comes from the Dlookup function, because if I put...

I've written this expression for a DLookup function. It works almost alright. What I'm trying to do is type in a description and the ID field (number) populates automatically. It works almost as I've said. It doesn't populate until I go to a new record. Then if I go back to the record the number is in the field. Instead of populating immediately it waits until I've created a new record. Am I making sense with this description. Here's...

Can someone help me fix my DLookup problem. I'm far from proficiency with Access. I've been creating databases for several years for work with the help of many of you and trial and error. I have used DLookup several times and I've actually re-created the same lookup just in different forms. Here's my problem. I'm using dlookup when I enter a part description it adds the part number for me. I choose the part description from a combo...

Front end is Access 2002, back end is linked Oracle tables. My users need to describe things in feet and inches and want to use the standard ' and " abbrevations. On a testing form I go to a record with double or single quotes in the location description and click a button to see if Access can tell me the ID number and find its way back to the original record. When the text contains double quotes the FindFirst works but the Dloookup...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
