What is the best way to grant a user permission to create a view?
I first created a role using enterprise manager but for the role I
created it doesn't seem to offer that permission. It offers the basic
stuff such as insert, select, and update.
I could go in and use a grant create view sql statement I suppose but
I'd rather do it through enterprise manager where it would be visible
if I need to change it in the future.

Hello,
I have DB2 v8.1 for Linux for a class environment; each user has
his/her own database as dbadm and they are suppose to study queries
from another database.
They have the right permissions to this database so they can do the
SELECTS but they cannot alter the tables.
Now I want them to be able to study the query plans.

How can I run a single SP by asking multiple sales question either
by using the logical operator AND for all the questions; or using
the logical operator OR for all the questions. So it's always
either AND or OR but never mixed together.
We can use Northwind database for my question, it is very similar
to the structure of the problem on the database I am working on.
IF(SELECT OBJECT_ID('REPORT')) IS NOT NULL
DROP TABLE REPORT_SELECTION

My article on dynamic SQL, "The Curse and Blessings of Dynamic SQL" is
frequently referred to in these newsgroups. I like to announce that I
have rewritten this article thoroughly. I started off with revising it
for SQL 2005, but the more I looked at it, I felt that it was time for a
major overhaul. After all, I wrote the initial version with a mindset of
SQL 6.5.
The URL is the same: http://www.sommarskog.se/dynamic_sql.html.
At the...

BACKGROUND: We've designed a Website for a client that will be
deployed across multiple physical locations. The site will be hosted
from a corporate NOC, and administered by the IT group there.
The site's end-users tend to fill each others' roles on a pretty
frequent basis. Their permissions in the system have to be extremely
flexible. We initially wanted to use role-based security, defining
concrete roles, but when we realized how these...

I've read a few posts on the stored procedure vs dynamic sql debate. I ran
a few performance test for myself and it appears to be a wash.
Given that, I'm leaning toward dynamic sql mostly because it would mean one
fewer place to have things.
But, before we go that route we wanted to ask the question:
Is there any compelling reason why we shouldn't abandon all of our stored
procs and just write the SQL inside inside our functions in...

Newbie warning: please be gentle with me... I've never had to worry about permissions before, all my dbs have been single-user.
I want to set up a PHP/MySQL based website to display photos listed in a table, which any visitor can interrogate (read-only) without a username or password; <link removed> is the sort of thing I'm aiming at, if you want an example. My webspace provider has all the right stuff, and I can do the coding myself, once...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
