Does anybody have samples of how to use JDBC calls to work with a
cursor on Oracle 8i? Can it even be done?
I'd like to be able to do something like:
String sql = "DECLARE CURSOR my_cursor FOR SELECT name,id FROM
name_tbl";
statement.execute(sql); (executeQuery? executeUpdate?)
....
while(...)

Hello Joe
Over the past several years, I have found your responses to jdbc
usage/driver related issues to be extremely helpful. I am sure that
you're very busy so I will make my question as brief as possible - the
reason I didn't post this to a newsgroup is that I don't want to hear
any more hype or links to benchmarks (since the vast majority of the
benchmarks don't test concurent/mixed-transaction environments). (I am
also posting a...

Hi everyone
Description of the problem:
Using a PreparedStatement to write down an integer (int) plus a
timestamp for testing purposes. When read out again the integer looks
very different. We found that it was shifted three Bytes to the left,
i.e. 4 becomes hex 4000000 which is 67108864 in decimal base. This
means that the value written and the value read sometimes do not
match, which is of course inacceptable for all real world...

Hello,
I spent now several hours searching the google groups without finding
an solution. I am kind of Newbie to DB2 and JSP and therefore working
with JSP4Dummies (not sure whether I should recommend this book):
Invoking the following jsp-file in the browser I get an
ClassNotFoundException for the COM.ibm.db2.jdbc.app.DB2Driver.

I have a problem updating date values using Java via JDBC-ODBC to Access.

I had a wrong conception in JDBC..that when maximum opened cursors exceed then the corresponding connection to the database is closed automatically.
But I recently I came to know that the connection is still active...
How can I trap that particular exception..
I have also a conception that when a satatement is created then a cursor is opened. Is it true.
On closing the resultset is the corresponding cursor is closed or not.
Plz help me...

Hi been working with connecting to access database for a few days now and thought i'd mastered it but judging by the following - obviously not!
My code is supposed to get a string from text box and get a string from a selection of a jcombobox (search keyword from column) and create a results table (via a new class) after querying the database. I'm not getting any errors and i know (via a if statment that resultSet != null but my print...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
