sql server 2000 8.00.194
Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 2
I looked into my sqlserver agent log and found the following
ODBC Error 0 Timeout expired
logon to server local '( failed)' (Job manager)
I have no idea what that means but it did keep out users for a minute or more.
The threads found on this forum almost all point to reccuring situations

Hi,
Has anyone ever had trouble using the query analyzer tool through a vpn
client? I'm able to connect outside of work to a sqlserver db on my
company lan with enterprise mgr, but the query analyzer times out every
time I try to connect from outside of work. Both utilities work fine at
work (no vpn tunnel).
The exact error is:

After creating a routine to select from past ADODB connection strings, I
found that it takes 60 seconds to timeout! I found the Microsoft article
below

but wonder if anyone has a work around.

All,
I have read through lots of postings regarding my concerns, but I
haven't found what I am looking for.
The center (non profit University) where I work collects scientific
data about subjects enrolled in studies related to respiratory
diseases. Both lab data and questionnaire information are collected.
We use W2K as PC operating systems, MS Access XP, XP Developer, and
Visual SourceSafe. Our databases use a front end – back end...

Hello!
I am working on improving my threading skills and came across a question.
When working with the ReaderWriterLock class, I am getting an unhandled
exception if I acquire a WriterLock with a timeout less than the time
required to process the code section it protects.
The code listed below is just a small application I wrote to check the
behavious of the different threading / synchronization techniques. Basically
the application...

Access 2002
SQL Server 2000
ODBC Linked Tables
I have a user who gets an ODBC timeout message when trying to save a new
record in a form. I looked at the locks on the server and that user was
locking himself out. On the same server I can enter records fine with
that form, except when he's in there, he's using the same application
(copy of).

Did anyone write a contextmanager implementing a timeout for
python2.5?
I'd love to be able to write something like
with timeout(5.0) as exceeded:
some_long_running_stuff()
if exceeded:
print "Oops - took too long!"

One of our clients has reported a problem. Everything was working
fine on Monday, but since Tuesday all is going wrong. The sysadmin
assures me that there have been no changes to the network, or the
servers.
Three applications, one back-end database server (SQL Server 2000 with
all service packs etc.).
APP 1: Access 2000 database
APP 2: ASP.NET (VS 2003)

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
