I am trying to move a database created in ms sql7 Desktop on a win nt4 workstation, to a ms sql7 server on a win nt4 server. All service packs are the same. I have tried backing up the database and restoring to the sql7 server. The restore aborts, because it recognizes the database is not from that server. I have tried exporting, but everything does not get moved. I have yet to try sp_detach db, I will try it this weekend. I am...

I just got Visual Studio 6 Enterprise which includes SQL Server 7. However, when I try to install SQL7 (Standard Edition ?) on Windows XP Home it only installs the client components and not the server component. The install routine claims this is because of the version of Windows I am using. Now I know that IIS isn't supposed to be installable on Windows XP Home but it is with a fairly straight forward hack, so what I was...

We are trying to import data from a sql 7 machine into sql 2000 using import wizard in DTS. One of the tables has in excess of 80 million rows. The first time we did this it worked fine no problems. However we had to recreate the database, and it has not worked since. The error message is reported as ' the log file for 'dbname' is full'. This happens regardless of the fact that there is 100GB free on disk, and that the database data...

This database has a number of views which are owned by user INFORMATION_SCHEMA and are set as system tables. This user doesn't actually have a login on the SQL server. We've tried the following to recreate the database on SQL2000, but whatever we try, the views owned by...

Im trying to access a sql200 database from a sql7 hosted stored procedure and this is not working. I know that SQL7 is not compatible with the MDAC for SQL 2000. Does anyone know if this is what is causing me my problems and if so is it possible to upgrade the SQL7 MDAC without breaking it? Thanks

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
