Message: Error Enumerating Data Servers - One solution

I ran into this problem on my Windows 2000 system with SQL Server 2000
installed when I was using the Data Link Properties box to setup a
connection string. It would happen when I tried to view or refresh the
list of servers present.

I re-installed SQL Server 2000 and upgraded to MDAC 2.8, neither of
which helped. After searching some more, I finally found the following
article:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/232060/

One of the instructions was to disable anti-virus and disk security
software which I had not thought to do. I'm running Norton Firewall
which I've found in the past does tend to interfere with things if it
hasn't recognized a program yet so I disabled it and was finally able
to view the list. When I re-enabled the firewall, it recognized the
necessary components and everything works great now.

I thought I'd post this for reference since I notice that many other
people have run into the same problem.

I'm trying to transfer data from one Sql Server into a table on another, using a simple INSERT query in an Access database with links to tables on both servers (the reasons for this are complicated but it IS the simplest solution, believe me). The 'Select' clause of the query works fine when run alone, but, when I run the INSERT query I get a Runtime Error 3167 Record Deleted. I get the error even when I'm the only person accessing...

Hi, Can anyone please tell me how I can retrieve a list of servers and workstations names on the current domain? I'm not particularly interested about what type of machine they are, just their names which I can add to a combo box. Any assistance gratefully received. Best regards,

Hi all, I am currently using a Win32 API call to NetServerEnum to enumerate all SQL Servers on an NT Domain. The function returns the names of all servers running SQL Server on the network, but it doesn't return any SQL Server/MSDE named instances. Does anyone have any ideas on how to enumerate all named instances of SQL Server/MSDE on a Domain as well as the default instances? Thanks, Michael C.

Hi all, After a lot of research, I've come to some realizations about enumerating Named Instances of MSDE. NetServerEnum() Win32 API function doesn't work, SQL-DMO doesn't work, no standard routines seem to work. SQL-DMO is by far the most robust solution - since it calls NetServerEnum() first, and subsequently sends out a broadcast on Port 1433 to locate all SQL Servers on the network. This does pick up all default instances (as long...

I've already searched Google. I've already asked people in IRC. I have still not found a solution that works for me for this extremely discouraging apparent bug in the SmtpMail class. MailMessage message = new MailMessage(); // set params here SmtpMail.SmtpServer = "mail.myispmailserver.com"; SmtpMail.Send(message); This works if I run it in a console application on my Windows Server 2003

Hey, all! We're having trouble displaying SQL Server data in a web site as XML, using a transform. The query is a simple SELECT statement. When running the query, we get the following error from the web site: <error> Microsoft.Data.SqlXml.Common.ISQLXMLCommandManagedInterface.ExecuteToOutputStream() +0 Microsoft.Data.SqlXml.SqlXmlCommand.innerExecute(Stream strm) +137

Is there a native .Net mechanism for enumerating a list of all of the servers/systems in a LAN? Or must I resort to a Win32 call to achieve this? -ken

I have three servers and each server has separate MySQL and DB. For instance I have common DB i.e. store on all the three servers i.e web1, web2 and web3. I m running a query in DB store on web1 and I need to verify some data from a table in DB - store on web2. Can anyone reply how to perform this task in MySQL on cross servers. How can we establish connection with different server and DB to use in query.

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
