Renaming logical file names

Is there a way to rename the logical file names? I'm not talking
specifically about the physical files, because those can be changed
during a restore, but the values immediately to the left of those in
Enterprise Manager such as DBName_Data and DBName_log. Enterprise
Manager lets me change them during a restore, but when I do it gives an
error. Any ideas?

ALTER DATABASE ... MODIFY FILE ...

See Books Online for the full syntax.

A few questions about the following code. How would I "wrap" this in a function, and do I need to? Also, how can I make the code smart enough to realize that when a file has 2 or more bad charcters in it, that the code needs to run until all bad characters are gone? For example, if a file has the name "<bad*mac\file" the program has to run 3 times to get all three bad chars out of the file name. The passes look like this:

Hopefully someone can help, I have a listview box where I display my desired files. I single click on the desired file to be renamed and I rename it with a new name. My problem arises when the new name gets displayed through refreshing of my loop and display function. The problem is that when, if I rename the last file entry, everything appears to display fine. If I rename a file above the last entry (bottom entry), two of the new file...

Hi Folks, I have been given a CD with approx 130 .xls files (bean-counters!) that I would like to import and merge to ONE table (tblTradeshow). The XL files are *similarly*, but not identically structured, and the first row does NOT contain field names. Some (actually most) of the column names *are* the same in all of the spreadsheets.

Perhaps this is obvious to everyone but me, but how do you rename an existing project when using the .NET IDE? It allows you to save the current form as something else, but not the whole project. Am I stuck with going through all the files and directories and renaming them? regards, boops boops (no relation of Betty) Posted Via Usenet.com Premium Usenet Newsgroup Services ---------------------------------------------------------- **...

When renaming a form... looks like you should probably rename it in 2 places... the logical (Name) property of the form as well as the physical file name... (this could become confusing ). Is there an easy way to keep them both in synch ? Any reason not to that I am overlooking ?

I'm updating a legacy app with table naming that makes baby jesus cry. It's a bit of a spider web though... no telling when and where the tables will be called by name. So I wrote this for renaming tables (I guess it would work for queries also). It changes the table name, changes the table name, queries that refer to it, form and report control sources, combo and list box row sources etc. Anyone inspired enough to figure out how to make...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
