This might not be a SQL Server question, might be something else. I
have a workstation on a LAN that can't connect to the SQL Server. When
I try to configure a User DSN to connect to it, the server name I want
appears TWICE in the list of possible servers. No matter which one I
select, it can't get the connection.
The workstation also can't connect through EM or QA.
We've checked the user's permissions, we've re-installed some server
packs, re-installed the Client Tools, we've even hunted through the
registry, everything looks OK, but we still can't connect. This is the
only machine on the LAN that can't connect. Everybody else connects
fine.
I'm stumped. Any ideas? Anybody ever seen the server name appear
twice like that?

And the error message is?
Have you tried added an alias in the Client Network Utility?
Have you tried connecting using the IP-address?
Have you checked in the Client Network Utility that the protcols that
server use are enabled?

We got it. It was the Client Network Utility. The workstation had a
bad alias set up in there, for some reason. We deleted that alias, and
now we can connect! Thanks for your help. Learn more about this stuff

I just realized that there are 2 modes for garbage collection modes: server
gs and workstation gs. Would someone know how I can go about changing the
mode for my web application written in C#? I want to make sure it's using
server gs mode. Thank you for any comment or advice.

Here's the scenario.
A user is sitting at a WinXP workstation and maps a drive to one particular
remote server. The user then transfers data files to that server and invokes
my C++ application executable that resides on that remote server from a
simple DOS command line at the workstation. For example, x:\myprogram.exe.
This scenario can and often does exist concurrently at different workstations
around the country but always with the one...

We have a very large C# winforms client application that is constructed
as a single solution currently with 75 projects. We're currently using
VS 2003 but will upgrade to 2005 some time next year.
We've noticed that Visual Studio is terribly inefficient about a lot of
things, and my testing with 2005 seems to indicate those problems may
actually be worse there.
On average, it can take 3 to 5 minutes to simply open the solution
while...

Hey yall. I'm a DBA in a company where I do NOT have the ability to
control who logs into my SQL servers as administrator, so I'm looking
for a way to uninstall the workstation components WITHOUT completely
uninstalling all of my instances. Does anyone know how to do this?
All I can find is the complete removal option in add/remove, and the
install cd setup doesn't have a remove function that I can find. Any
idea's?

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
