You could have a group-based access. You can setup groups such as Administrator, Moderator, User and etc, where every single group would have it's own access level and permissions. You could also have an access list of some sort. Say, if you're designing this for an intranet web application, you could have a list of accessible pages which could be assigned to different groups. Something like this... shouldn't be hard to do. Most of it is properly setting up the database.

What is the best way to grant a user permission to create a view? I first created a role using enterprise manager but for the role I created it doesn't seem to offer that permission. It offers the basic stuff such as insert, select, and update. I could go in and use a grant create view sql statement I suppose but I'd rather do it through enterprise manager where it would be visible if I need to change it in the future.

I am in need of a utility that will help streamline the process of managing and auditing object permissions, users and roles on multiple sql server 2000 instances with multiple databases on each instance. I would like to be able to compare things across these multiple instances to see if permissions are setup the same. In addition to being able to more easily view the user/role/permissions, I'd like to be able to modify roles, object...

I have an asp.net ecommerce web application on a remote web server. I'm using an Access database on the back end. I've notice a few strange things. When I mimic an multiple user environment by surfin it in multiple browsers simultaneously the site generates a generic runtime error after awhile. I'm thinking this has something to do with my access database and multiple connections. I'm using forms authentication with a login page. Is...

The logging in portion of my code works...What I need to know is how to allow access to certain pages to users with an administrator role while blocking access to regular users. My database has 3 columns, username, password, and roles. It is the last...

The application...

Hi I'm currently developping a University portal that uses single sign on between multiple applications, and I would like to store my users in one application and share them with other applications while keeping the roles unique per application. For our portal, all our users would go in an application called "UniversityPortal", and roles would be created in each course application. Here's an example illustrating our proposed structure. ...

I have a custom web.config section similar to the following: <CustomAuthSettings attr1="" attr2=""> <Locations RedirectUrl="Invalid.aspx"> <add Path="test.aspx" Roles="1,2,3" Permissions="4,5,6" /> </Locations> </CustomAuthSettings> Everything seems to work just fine. When I have config files in nested folders, Attr1 and Attr2 of the CustomAuthSettings section correctly

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
