This is database independent so I'll put this in the software forum.

P.S Google is our friend.

Hi every one.

this is my fist post, and i did not want to start a new thread as my question is very related to ER diagrams but a specific model: ER model for a forum.

If any of you guys do know of an example i would greatly appreciate it.

Right now my entities are:
[forum] 1<-------> n [sections]
[section]1<-------> n[thread]
[thread]1 <--------> n[reply]
[reply]n <--------> 1[poster]

**note: 1 <-------> n denotes a One to Many relation

Thank you in advance.

I tried to create a relationship in EM's diagram pane in SQL Server 2000 (I'd list the version of EM, but About gives me the MMC version, which is probably not relevant.) (The database itself is SQL Server 2000 SP3.) I got an error that I don't understand (because, at least at first blush, it appears to be quite untrue). Note that I have never clicked before on the diagrams child of the database; this was entirely experimental.

When you create database diagrams in Enterprise Manager, the details for constructing those diagrams is saved into the dtproperties table. This table includes an image field which contains most of the relevant infomation, in a binary format. SQL Enterprise manager offers no way to script out those diagrams, so I have created two Transact SQL components, one User Function and one User Procedure, which together provide a means to script...

Please let me know what you think of this scheme I have come up with (not to imply that noone else has before me) for managing relationships. I have created an entities table with Individual and Organizational subtypes. I need to be able to relate them to eachother (e.g., some are customers of or suppliers to others, some have employer/employee relationships,...). I know this is not an uncommon thing to do. So, I have created...

Hi I have three database tables - Location, Part and Detail. Location and Part have a one-many relationship to detail. Location and Part need to be inserted into the database before inserting a detail record. I am having problems designing the business entity objects for these tables becoase we have one composite that Depends on Two Parent Objects.

That subject line will have Joe Celko apoplectic!! Let's say I have this thing. Oh, I don't know, a car. No, a vehicle. Can we agree that is an entity type? Some attributes might be VIN, Fuel, Color. Some entity instances might be: wvv2939-32-2993-2-90, Gasoline, Blue wvv3942-3249--2830-2, Diesel, Red I wanna make it easy to get the colors in. Keep a list of 'em somewhere. So

Back in the mid-90's, Kees Blom generated a set of railroad syntax diagrams for Python (http://python.project.cwi.nl/search/hypermail/python-1994q3/0286.html). This pre-dates any Python awareness on my part, but I'm sure this would have been version 1.3 or something. For those who are not familiar with railroad syntax diagrams, they show a grammar's syntax using arrows and blocks, instead of BNF - here's an excerpt from the Python...

In the old ages when I was taught Pascal, the manual had nice syntax diagrams. Each grammatical structure was shown as round boxes connected by arrows, with a model railway look, with the boxes representing either lexical tokens or other diagrams (i.e. terminals/nonterminals). They seemed very intuitive because you could toot-toot one finger along the rails in the book while moving another finger over your code. Does anything similar...

Having spent ages sorting out the layout of my relationship window with about 60 tables and getting it all tidy and with enough of the tables visible to show the PK an FK relaionshipsOn a subseqent occassion, on opening the relationship window, I found all the tables had shrunk so that in most cases, only the table names were visible and the fields could only be seen by "expanding" the table again. I know you can print out the relationship...

I am really struggling to create an entity which maps to 2 "base" entities. I have a customer and invoice entity which are based in tables in a one to many relationship. I have tried: 1. Creating a Invoice Entity based on the Invoice and adding a mapping to both tables: I can't validate the model it says "Two entities with different keys are mapped to the same row. Ensure these two mapping fragments do not map two groups of entities with...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
