Formal interfaces with Python

Hello,
some time ago I've heard about proposals to introduce the concecpt of
interfaces into Python. I found this old and rejected PEP about that:
http://www.python.org/dev/peps/pep-0245/

What is the current status of that?

Thanks,

Florian
