I was doing starting some experimenting with the GC and ran into the following odd result. I created an object and my used memory went up by almost 11k but when I cleared it and forced a collection the used memory only went down by 12 bytes.
Any ideas on what else is being created or not cleaned up?
Code ==>
Sub Main()
' The following...

I have a .NET application that I am developing in C# I am loading

Currently our client runs one particular C# .NET executable, and after a few
hours performance slows to a crawl. It would be very useful for me to be
able to rule in (or out) the possibility that it is a result of memory
leakage.
Can someone point me to an article that discusses how bad programming may
produce memory leaks? The application...

Hi
I have an .Net application which processes thousands of Xml nodes each
day and for each node I am using around 30-40 Regex matches to see if
they satisfy some conditions are not. These Regex matches are called
within a loop (like if or for). E.g.
for(int i = 0; i < 10; i++)
{
Regex r = new Regex();

Ok, lets try this again.
I have a program which searches all disk drives for certain file types.
When it finds a file it writes a record to a Firebird DB. The program
normally is using 40 - 44 megs. However after running for about a minute
the memory usage suddenly jumps up to 440 - 450 megs for about 15 - 20
seconds and then instantly...

Hi all,
I have a problem related to memory grow on a server application
which is basically stateless (I have some static info loaded). The
client accesses this server using remoting and it has worked for about
2 years without problems.
The problem I have encountered lately is that the memory on server
side started to grow and not to be...

Hi,
I am using WMI to gather information about different computers (using win2K
and win 2K3), checking common classes and also WMI load balance. My
application runs every 1 minute and reports the status of the machines.
Upon we follow the .NET object lifetime recommendations the application is
constantly consuming more memory! The problem...

I've detected memory leaks in our huge .NET 1.1 C# application but
couldn't localize them directly. So I've reduced the code to the
following console application:
using System;
using System.IO;
namespace MemLeak
{
class MemLeak

Can any-one recommend some good sites detailing how to code a simple memory
profiler?
How do they "look under the hood"?
I built an uber simple service that tracks the process' memory but I need
to "get inside" and look a bit deeper and I don't have a clue where to start
... a commercial memory profiler is not an option due the nature of...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then...
