I've just setup a new box with Slackware 10, and am running into
problems with simple programs that worked just fine on my old slak box
(and still do). The only difference I can see between the two boxes is
that the new one is running python 2.3.4, and the old is 2.3.3.
The code is a barely modified version of one of the tutorials, and the
errors I get are:

Hi,
I can find a few questions regarding the use of distutils for making
non-python windows installers, but none of them really helps. Are
there any pointers on how to do this? Can it be done?
A little OT: What about making MSI installation files instead of .exe?
Is it a good idea to consider at all?

I use the GTK libraries in linux. The book I use is "Begining
GTK+/Gnome Programming" by Peter Wright. The book is intended for
linux users. So, I am wondering how I can do the same thing in
windows? I am mostly having trouble compiling in windows since the
compiler says that it cant open the gtk headers: "gtk/gtk.h"

Hello everyone, I'm new to this forum and a sort of beginner at Python. I've created a GUI in Python using Glade and GTK and I have two questions. I'm having trouble with comboboxes. Particularly with entering data into a combo box from Python. I've tried the following....
myCombo = self.wTree.get_widget('comboboxentry')
myCombo.append_text('blah blah blah')
to no avail... apparently you have to first do gtk.combo_box_new_text()...

I am trying to install Python 2.5 on Windows XP. It installs into the
root directory on C:\ instead of C:\Python25 which it shows by default
as what it plans to install to. Selecting D:\Python25 on a previous
iteration put the exe in D:\ and did not create a Python25 directory.
On the most recent iteration, when requesting an install to D:
\Python25 it appears to have put files on C:\. I am installing on
Windows XP Professional. When it...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
