Hi.
I'm using Python 2.3 and trying to use tkFileDialog to get a list of
files. I get a message about the '-multiple' option is not a valid
option in the call to Open.

Is it possible to install multiple versions of ActivePython on the same
machine?
Many modules which used to work with Python 2.2 now don't on 2.3. I am
using some 2.3 features but lots of programs that used to work, don't
anymore. This is especially true with modules that expose their libraries
as DLLs. Has backward compatibility been a nagging problem with Python?
Please feel free to chide me if this is a no-brainer question.

Hi all,
We've been having a discussion over on the wxPython-users mailing list
about how to deal with multiple versions of wxPython. During the
discussion it came up that this isn't a problem faced only by
wxPython, but would have to be dealt with by virtually all packages.
The root of the problem is what to do when you install a new version
of wxPython, and want to be able to keep using the old one. This
question comes up frequently...

Call this a C++ programmers hang-up if you like.
I don't seem to be able to define multiple versions of __init__ in my matrix
class (ie to initialise either from a list of values or from 2 dimensions
(rows/columns)).
Even if Python couldn't resolve the __init__ to use on the basis of argument
types surely it could do so on the basis of argument numbers???
At any rate - any suggestions how I code this????

Would there be issues (registry settings, environment
variables, whatever) if a person tried to install
versions 1.x and 2.x simultaneously on one Windows
system? Windows 98, if it matters.
(I can handle the file associations with no problem.)
Thanks.

How do I use multiple Python interpreters within the same process?
I know there's a function Py_NewInterpreter. However, how do I use functions
like Py_RunString etc. with it? They don't take any arguments that would
tell on which interpreter to run the string...?

You don't have to try - binaries for different Python versions *are* *not* compatible (up to the second digit: 2.4 and 2.5 are not compatible, but 2.5.1 and 2.5.2 are). So any extension using a .pyd/.dll will have to be recompiled, at least.
Even pure Python code written for 2.5 may use features not available in 2.2.
Packages built using setuptools...

Hopefully a service like this already exists and I just haven't found
it yet. If not it could be an idea for some kind soul(s) to pick up
and run with ;-)
As someone who writes and releases Python modules for the community, I
find it difficult to have a decent level of confidence in the efficacy
of my code on platforms and Python versions other than those that I
own or use regularly. My documentation states that I support Python
2.3 or...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
