Re: simple error i hope

It is also a good idea to open files with the open() function and not the
file() function. *They do the exact same thing, and take the exact same
parameters, just open() makes your code a bit more readable (or at least
that's what I think).
The main point with open I think is to easy later evolution. While you could
override "file" name as well as "open" by a custom funcion, it's a bad idea
to override the name of the type because a simple isinstance(file _, file)
won't work anymore if you do so.

I am new to vb.net programming and am just exploring the way databinding works with Windows forms and am having trouble with some fairly basic customization of data entry. The form uses the SqlDataAdapter and SqlDataset and loads a very simple table, with both text and integer fields. If a textbox is bound to an integer source where the current value is a valid integer, say 9, I can type in the textbox 'rubbish' and move to another...

Hi there, I'd like to send emails from a Python program using Simple MAPI. I've tried this code: http://mail.python.org/pipermail/python-list/2004-December/298066.html and it works well with Outlook Express 6 and Thunderbird 1.5, but it doens't work at all with Microsoft Outlook 2007. I keep getting this message: "WindowsError: MAPI error 2". I don't want to use Extended MAPI because it doesn't support thunderbird not OE. Therefore,...

Ok, this has to be the simplest of all things, but I've searched microsoft's site, and the entire net! If you put a toggle button in a ribbon, it is simple enough to get the state using a callback function: getPressed... Here's the wrinkle. I have a clear filter button on a form, and I want to check the state of the toggle button (pushed in or not) from the form, NOT the toolbar. This should be so simple, but using code like the...

This is going to be a really simple question to answer (I hope). I have used this code before and it worked. However, I am using this code on a different web server, but the web server does claim to support it! My code: dim MyMail, SmtpMail Set MyMail = Server.CreateObject("CDO.Message") SmtpMail.SmtpServer = "mail.DOMAIN.com" MyMail.To=Request.Form("txtEmail")

Congratulations! You are one of the few who realise that over 80% of errors are simple and easy to fix. It is important to realise this as it can save a lot of time. Time that could be wasted making unnecessary changes, that in turn can cause further problems. Programming is a humbling experience. An experience that causes one to reflect on human error. One major cause of these errors is syntax, syntax, syntax. We tend not to notice when we...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
