Hi,
How well is Python suited for developing database based applications?
I am new to Python so please bear with me if some of the questions are
too simple. I specifically have the following questions:
1. Is there an example of a simple data-entry application written in
Python using a GUI interface? Something like a simple address book app
with a listbox displaying all addresses with the ability to
add/modify/delete.

Now i want to install some packages (Numeric, wxPython and
scipy). I've install Numeric and wxPython for python2.3 without
problem (python2.3 setup.py install ... and so on). But when I try

Hi,
i'm trying to get boa constructor working with Python 2.3.4
At first i tried with boa 0.2.3 but that gave me an error. After
searching the web, it appeared that it's best to work with the
CVS version. Well, i checked that version out and moved it
to C:\Python23\Lib\site-packages\wxPython\tools\boa
When i then try to run it "python boa.py" it gives me this
output (windows 2000):

Is there an author index for the new version of the
Python cookbook? As a contributor I got my comp version
delivered today and my ego wanted some gratification.
I couldn't find my entries.

If this is not an appropriate newsgroup for this type of posting,
please let me know and (if possible) suggest an alternative. I've
done a fair bit of research on the net, but information is scattered
all over the place and I haven't been able to find mailing lists
relating specifically to python and UIs.
I'd like to start using Python for some GUI programming again. I'd
like to use Tk, but it seems to be dying a slow death, so it's...

Hello,
I was trying to get answers for these. SPE homepage was down. Then I
found it on berlios
(http://developer.berlios.de/forum/forum.php?forum_id=12695) but no one
answered since 5 days. In fact nobody seems to write in anything to that
forum, I presume it is dead. I have no other choice than ask it here. I
apologize in advance, they may be silly questions.

Hi,
I'm using an intel imac which came with python 2.3.5 pre-intstalled on
OS 10.4.7. I was able run a hello world wxPython script in Terminal
by typing:
$pythonw wxPythonTest.py
Yesterday, I installed python 2.4.4 which I downloaded from the
MacPython website, and it seems to have installed correctly:

Newbie here with a (hopefully not) dumb question....tried searching around on the 'Net without success, so here goes....
I have been playing around with python. I wrote a script that sends an smtp email. Here is the link that I found explaining how such a script could be written Sending an Email
As you see it imports a module as follows: "import smtplib".
I am using a linux machine (ubuntu ditro). It has both python2.5 and python2.4...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
