Someone asked me to write a brief essay regarding the value-add
proposition for Python in the Fortran community. Slightly modified to
remove a few climatology-related specifics, here it is.
I would welcome comments and corrections, and would be happy to
contribute some version of this to the Python website if it is of
interest.

Does anyone know of, or even better, has anyone here written a
C++ application for Mac/Windows that allows users to run Python
scripts from within the app? Not just once, but many times in
a single session, and without leaking memory. Preferably an
open source app so I can...

I have a python code which is running on a huge data set. After
starting the program the computer becomes unstable and gets very
diffucult to even open konsole to kill that process. What I am assuming
is that I am running out of memory.
What should I do to make sure that my code runs fine without becoming
unstable. How should I address the...

Hi folks,
Quick Synopsis:
A test script demonstrates a memory leak when I use pythonic extensions
of my builtin types, but if I use the builtin types themselves there is
no memory leak.
If you are interested in how builtin/pure-python inheritance interacts

Hi there,
I am embedding python 2.5 on embedded system running on RTOS where I
had strict memory constraints.
As python is a huge malloc intensive application, I observed huge
memory fragmentation in my system which is leading to out of memory
after running few scripts.
So I decided to re-initialise the python with out restarting the whole...

Hello I have some code that wraps a C++ library so I may use it in
python. The code basically just gets some data and puts it in the
PyArrayObject* which is returned as a PyObject*.
I then call it from python like so:

In principle pure Python code should have no memory leaks - if there are, they're on Python itself.
Maybe this is an allocation problem, not an actual leak; if you can write a program that reproduces the problem, post a bug at http://bugs.python.org

Pure Python code can cause memory leaks. No, that's not a bug in the
interpreter but the fault of the developer. For example code that messes
around with stack frames and exception object can cause nasty reference
leaks.

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it. ...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then...

I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in...
