I'm trying in vain to set the icon for the executable generated
by py2exe. According to various sources there are two answers:
1) Do it on the command line:
python setup.py py2exe --icon foo.ico
That generates a usage error:
error: --icon not recognized

Apologies in advance for the long post - I wanted to be sure I included all
the relevant details. The answer is probably very, very simple.
I am doing something stupid here, but I don't know what it is. I'm writing
an application with a Tkinter GUI (Python 2.4, Tcl/Tk 8.4.) and I want to
put a custom icon on the main window.
I've followed (so far as I understand it) the recipe in the eff-bot's
splendid Introduction to Tkinter - see:...

I am building this SQL Server database app in which i can store files. In
order to display files I want to have the app show the associated icon for
the extension of the file that is in the database. Therefore the file doesnt
really exist on the user's hard drive. All the file extracting techniques
require that I have the actual file on the drive in order to get an icon for
it. There is a workaround for this: i could create dummy files with...

Hi all,
1) I found out from the vb.net group that it is possible to get an
associated icon for a file. My requirement is to display all programs
from the Start Menu for the user along with the associated icons. While
I am able to list the programs correctly, the icons that get displayed
alongside are the ones for the folders.
The form has listview and imagelist controls on it. I shall paste the
code here.
2) I was also wondering why...

Does anyone have some hints / tips / experience with making a cross
platform systray icon? It should work on Windows, Gnome and KDE at
minimum.
I've seen the win32all code which is very similar to the C code I've
written before for Windows. It would be a small irritation to have to
integrate its event loop with whichever GUI framework I'm using for
the rest of it though.
I don't know how to make a systray under KDE/Gnome though, but...

Hallo zusammen,
in meine Anwendung ist ein Bild eingebettet und oben in der Leiste soll
ein Icon erscheinen.
Ausserdem will ich nur _eine_ Datei ausgeben, also ohne zusärtliche
Bild-Dateien etc.
Dazu habe ich das Bild in base64 codiert und als String im Skript
gespeichert, siehe unten. Beim Ausführen des Skripts wird dieser
String decodiert, in ein Image umgewandelt und als Bitmap dargestellt.

Hello NG,
what are the right dimensions for a window icon, used on a mdi child window?
My Problem:
I used a third party Icon-Designer to design some icons for my application.
Those icons look ok on a mdi child as long as it is not maximize.
As soon as I maximize the window, the Icon is placed into the menu bar (I
assum the is normal) but its size is aproximatly 3 times bigger.

hi,all!
have you used 'dictionary' of linux, the program that rests on the
panel as an icon, and when you click on the icon, it will display a
window and do something. So i'm wondering how to achieve this. I guess
it's a dialog window, right? but the crucial part is how to minimize
the program to an icon on the panel and make it responsive to the
click event.
thanks in advance!

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
