Hi,
I'm trying to use os.listdir() to list directories with simplified chinese filenames. However, while I can see the filenames correctly in windows explorer, I am getting ? in the filename strings returned by os.listdir() for some chinese characters.
What should I do to make os.listdir return what I see in Windows Explorer (i.e. the full simplified chinese filename)? I am confused because os.listdir() is supposed to have unicode support.
I've tried Python 2.4.4 and 2.5.1 without noticing any differences. (Running on WinXP)

Hi,
I've done some google searching w/c referred me to a couple of
articles on unicode, but I'm looking for something really simple - not
for a web application.
See my sample code below. Any ideas how to convert it to display
maybe Simplified Chinese ?

Hello. I am working with a php software project, in it
(www.egroupware.org) Chinese simplified locate is "zh" while Traditional
Chinese "tw".
I wish to send correct language attribute in http header, I found "zh"
is not standard. I found this line in apache2's default httpd.conf
# Simplified Chinese (zh-CN)
AddLanguage zh-CN .zh-cn

Hi
I create a simple win32 project (VC2003, windows2003(English) ,
and do simple paint in WM_PAINT message, when the project use
multi-character set, it is OK.
but when I change to UNICODE, some Chinese characters are illegible( I see
sizeof(TCHAR)=2 being displayed). Your idea is welcome.
case WM_PAINT:
hdc = BeginPaint(hWnd, &ps);

Hi,
I am trying to output a string of chinese characters as a
text file. When I open a file for writing from VB, the
file is automatically set to UTF-8 encoding (can tell by
opening the file from notepad). However, when I open
this file from a Chinese program that does not support
unicode, garbage is displayed. So what I have to do is
to first use Notepad to change the encoding of the file
to ANSI encoding, then the file would be...

Hello,
I'm writing an class library that I imagine people from different countries
might be interested in using, so I'm considering what needs to be provided
to support foreign languages, including asian languages (chinese, japanese,
korean, etc).
First of all, strings will be passed to my class methods, some of which
based on the language (and on the encoding) might contain characters that
require more that a single byte.

Hello everyone,
Wide character and multi-byte character are two popular encoding schemes on
Windows. And wide character is using unicode encoding scheme. But each time I
feel confused when talking with another team -- codepage -- at the same time.
I am more confused when I saw sometimes we need codepage parameter for wide
character conversion, and sometimes we do not need for conversion. Here are
two examples,

Hi there,
I'm using Jmail for sending email with some attachments. Basically, I will need to send out email with the contents in unicode characters such as Simplified Chinese, Japanese etc.
I have tried out and all characters are displayed well, if ONLY for me to send it to webmail such as Yahoo!/Gmail. However, I was unable to read the characters when sending to my own company email address, even on the company's webmail. All characters...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
