Hi,
I'm currently checking out Python as an alternative to VB.Net
to moving from VB, but can't find a GUI designer that is as good as
VB.
I tried wxDesigner and wxGlade, but neither lets me move the widgets
around. I also tried Dialogblocks, but it seems to only handle C++ or
XRC, not Python.

Hello,
I'm using Pythonwin and py2.3 (py2.4). I did not come clear with this:
I want to use win32-fuctions like win32ui.MessageBox,
listctrl.InsertItem ..... to get unicode strings on the screen - best
results according to the platform/language settings (mainly XP Home,
W2K, ...).
Also unicode strings should be displayed as nice as possible at the
console with normal print-s to stdout (on varying platforms, different

Which of the Windows/Unix package builders for Python applications is
capable of creating single-file executables? I'm thinking of:
1. py2exe
2. Mcmillan Installer/PyInstaller
3. cxfreeze
The apps I've seen created by py2exe aren't single-file at all, the
install folder is full of files besides the main program. I'm looking
for a solution that stuffs all libraries, scripts, and the Python

Hi,
After a good deal of tunig I managed to freeze my application.
I ended up with an executable, and a Bunch of .so files in the
install-dir.
It runs fine in the original machine.
I copied the install folder to another machine but the executable wont
run. Here's the traceback:

Hi,
I compiled a python script using cxFreeze because I need a standalone
application, while the Windows version runs without any python
installation the linux version of the executable is linked to
libpython2.3.so.1.0 => /usr/lib/libpython2.3.so.1.0
thus the end user have to install python 2.3 in order to run the
binary. I would like to know if it's possible, using cxFreeze to create

Hello everyone,
I like to create a cross-platform standalone python application, like
Mac OS *.app dirs. The idea is to distribute a zip file containing
everything (the python interpreter and all) so that a user just unzips
it and runs it. Has anyone ever done anything like that? I searched
google but didn't find anything really, and currently, even in my dev
env, I have to set the PYTHONPATH manually, and for a standalone app I...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
