IDLE path browser not recognizing my PYTHONPATH

Hi,

I set PYTHONPATH to /home/me/bin in bash.bashrc, however the IDLE path
browser is not recognizing this. Not sure why.

Grateful for any insight.

The file "bash.bashr c" has no relevance. If you meant to set the
variable every time you start bash, put it into ".bashrc", in your
home directory. If that still doesn't work, type "env" before starting
idle, and inspect its output.

You also have to export, so to add to your existing PYTHONPATH, you
would add something like this to ~/.bashrc
export PYTHONPATH="${P YTHONPATH}:/home/me/bin/"

I can't remember where/how sys.path is set (aside from the automatically loaded site.py) and i get a strange entry in it. Can anyone remind me where/how to control sys.path on a Win32 machine (i'm running XP on the one where the issue arises). I can't figure out why the 'C:\WINDOWS\System32\python23.zip' entry is inside sys.path. That file/dir does not exist on the disk. Could a failing (crashing) Pythonwin installation caused that? ...

I am trying to figure out how a complex program written in python works. I am new to python so looking at the source code directly is not helping me much. As such, I am running the program under IDLE so I can step through the code. The program runs fine when it is run by itself. However, when I try to run the program in IDLE, I run into problems were a module cannot be found or is unavailable. To work around this problem I tired to...

Rossum's tutorial states "Actually, modules are searched in the list of directories given by the variable sys.path which is initialized from the directory containing the input script (or the current directory)" I'm running Python standard installation (ver 2.4) on Windows XP. Where can I find the "input script" where the sys.path is defined? Alex

Is sys.path setup differnently in jython vs python? I have environment variables pythonpath and jythonpath set to include C:\python22 but the initial printout indicates it is being ignored. Also when I used sys.path.extend, the added pathname shows up as a series of single characters. Have I misused .extend? Thanks, jh

hello, after cleaning up a PC, Python can't find any libraries anymore. But happily I've still one PC, where Python is running perfect. Now I always read about the environment variable "PYTHONPATH". But on neither PC there exists a "PYTHONPATH". On the PC that works ok, there is the standard "PATH" environment variable, and indeed there are all the Python Library references.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
