finalization signal for an object with ZODB involved?

I have (large) disk files connected with ZODB objects and want the disk files to be removed when the Python/ZODB object all finalizes.
Is it possible to get a kind of reliable __del__ signal for that?

Hello, I'm going to write a custom CMS. I'd like to use some odbms, as code is then much more cleaner...however, i'm a little bit scared about capabilities of ZoDB, when compared with f. e. Firebird. How much instances is Zodb able to handle? Under "handle" I mean "in real time", not "theoretically". I'd like to use it for dynamic portal with about 2000 - 3000 UIP / day. And, how is it with stability and crash recovery? I can't find...

Could you point me in to some Python code examples, code...

Hello, I am using ZODB "standalone" in version 3.3.1 within some application. Now I learn that the 3.3.x branch of ZODB is "retired". No problem so far, everything is running fine. BUT... "retired" gives me the hint that nothing GREAT will be done to this branch anymore :)

I have dilligently reviewed FAQ-lite Section 3.2, "How do I pass a pointer-to-member-function to a signal handler, X event callback, system call that starts a thread/task, etc." The only suggestion on how to deliver a signal to an object is to do it via a global variable and a wrapper function, a technique that is generally a Bad Idea (due to the usage of a global variable). I understand that this ng is dedicated to the discussion of...

Can someone give a reader's digest on finalization of objects in .net framework. When do I need to call .Dispose? What happens when I set the object to Nothing (or null in c#) What else do I need to know? Thanks

How have you handled the finalization of thread-specific unmanaged resources? My question pertains specifically to using the DDEML which is a thread-specific API. In other words, every call to the API using the same handle must be made on the same thread as the one that obtained the handle. Obviously, there is a conflict with the GC and the finalizer thread in cases where the programmer forgets to call Dispose on a wrapper class.

I have a productional Linux web server with a Python/Zope/Plone. Now I'd like to install a non-Zope Python/ZODB application on the same server. What is the recommended way of doing that? Option 1: Install ZODB in the Python installation in the usual way. Should I expect problems when I install and run zope with that Python installation? Option 2: Do not install ZODB in the Python installation. Install Zope in the usual

Hello folks, I am currently developing an open source Event Managment software (events in real-life, like concerts, exhibitions etc. :-) ) using wx for the GUI, and I need an Object database. Since this is the first time I actually need doing this, I wondered if anybody here could recommend one. It can be fairly simple. It doesn't need threading support and will only host one client (the application, but I am thinking about making this...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
