wxPython IEHtmlWindow mystery - dependencies?

Hi

I've been using an IEHtmlWindow in my script with no problems, but it
seems that for people with a clean installation of XP SP2 it fails like
such:

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "htmlloader.py" , line 509, in load
File "PythonCard\mod el.pyo", line 340, in __init__
File "PythonCard\res ource.pyo", line 86, in __init__
File "PythonCard\res ource.pyo", line 91, in __init__
File "PythonCard\res ource.pyo", line 91, in __init__
File "PythonCard\res ource.pyo", line 96, in __init__
File "PythonCard\res ource.pyo", line 139, in enforceSpec
File "PythonCard\res ource.pyo", line 30, in loadComponentMo dule
ImportError: cannot import module 'iehtmlwindow

As soon as a simple session of windowsupdate is run (with just the
hotfixes etc.) the problem seems to disappear.

So,do you know which update exactly is needed to prevent the error, and
why does it happen in the first place anyway?

Any ideas?

Thanks

~G

Just thought I'd play devil's advocate... I tried wxPython briefly, and it had some nice features. It has a huge list of dependencies. I don't like the fonts (but I'd love to know how to get fixed fonts, or at least anything that looks better on a small laptop screen. TkInter seems much easier to use... less effort to do things.

See: http://www.wxpython.org/quotes.php. especially: "wxPython is the best and most mature cross-platform GUI toolkit, given a number of constraints. The only reason wxPython isn't the standard Python GUI toolkit is that Tkinter was there first." - Guido van Rossum Guess, that answers my question, but isn't "Tkinter was there first" a very bad answer? :) It is kinda ugly too, so I wonder why it can't be replaced? Or maybe another GUI...

Recently I replaced Win2k with Linux on my desktop computer. Using mostly multi-platform software I thought this would be easy. It was not as easy as expected getting wxPython to work. There seemed to be no SuSE RPM so I installed from source. Here are my steps (gtk 2.4 was already installed): - Built wxWidgets (.configure --enable-unicode) - Built wxPython (python setup.py install) error: "you should use wx-config program for...

Hi, I took an example from wxPython with the IE web browser and created a refresh button to automatically refresh a web page in 5 second intervals. But I notice that the memory utilization in Python keeps increasing over time. Can anyone tell me why this is happening? Here is my code: ============================================================================

Hi, I wrote a small app using wxPython on a Linux distro called Ubuntu (it is a debain derivative). I ran it on windows and it just worked perfectly. Now, when I am trying to install the same app on a different Linux Distro (Red Hat Linux) I cannot get it to work. This Red Hat variant is a customized version of Red Hat of a Company where I work. It uses python 2.3.4. I installed wxPython and other dependencies mentioned on...

I have a window that I have created using Python Card that contains an wx.iehtmlWindow opject inside of it. Does anyone know how to disable right click and/or cause links that would open in new windows to open in the same window? I am running Windows XP Home. I am running ActiveState Python 2.4. Anything that I have tried has done absolutely nothing, because I can't get the events from the wx.iehtmlWindow to filter them for right clicks.

hello, gui_support is library for easy creation of GUI designs in wxPython. Although it's quit stable, it's part of a larger project and therefor has a lot of dependencies, but these can easily be removed. Warning: Although this library might be very attractive to newbies, the use of this library will prevent you from learning some of the basics of GUI,

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
