Hello,
Has anyone had success compiling the informixdb-1.3 module under
python 2.2? It seems the absense of makefile.pre.in in python 2.2
causes the break under py2.2. Is there an easy way around this. I've
heard rumors of a manual method, but have been unable to track down
details. Any help is very much appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Mike

I'm trying to install MySQLdb on SuSE 8.1, but the setup script
complains that it can't find /usr/lib/python2.2/config/makefile. I
just looked at the ActiveState distribution on Windows, the default
Python install on SuSE 8.1 AND the Python 2.3 source distribution
downloadable from Python.org, and none of them have any mention of
that makefile. The whole config directory simply doesn't exist.
The MySQLdb setup script doesn't refer to...

Hi,
what version of python are you using?
I got the same error when invoking a customized, 2-year-old version of
distutils with
python 2.3.3 (instead of 1.5.2, as before). Reason is code in dist.py,
using dir() to
look up the attributes of a class instance. But dir() nowadays also returns
the class methods,
__doc__ etc.
Changing this in the old distutils/dist.py made it work for me, again (line

Could anyone post a simple setup.py script that uses a SWIG interface
to C++ code and the mingw compiler?
I followed some online samples, and am using the setup.cfg file to
specify swig-c++=1.
Trying to build using mingw out of the cygwin environment but the
final call to link the extension calls directly to 'cc' which I think
should really be g++ at that point.

When building a C extension, Distutils standard command 'install' calls
the 'build' command before performing the installation (see
Lib/distutils/command/install.py and build.py).
Reusing the build command is the correct way to ensure the installation
payload is ready, but the two commands support very different sets of
user options and it is impossible to combine them: install validates
them at the beginning, rejecting user options meant...

RHEL comes with Python2.3 installed. A program I need to install

So I got Python2.4 from source and compiled it up. I configured it

then make'd it and then make altinstall so that it didn't overwrite
the /usr/bin/Python link to /usr/bin/Python2.3 .
Well, for some reason, the arch dependent files did NOT get placed

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
