Hey,
Does os.popen() actually work in a py2exe win32 package?
As far as I can tell, it just doesn't seem to do anything,
although it seems to work ok outside of py2exe.
Any hints? There does seem to be a popen.exe combined
with py2exe... Ah... maybe that's not being included in the
package!?
thanks,
-kt

I'm having a problem with py2exe for Python 2.3. I got fixed the
Lookuperror no codec search functions registered: can't find encoding by
following the instructions on the py2exe page (added -packages encodings
--force-imports encodings). This resolved the codec error. When I tried to
create an exe with py2exe I still got the following warnings. Please see
the new error I got (after warnings).

I need to control a command line program via python.
I first tried popen2 and 3 but I couldn't find a way to talk to the
subprocess interactively; that is, read some and then write some, and
read some more again... (suppose controlling an interactive shell
program) When I try this with popen family, it just hangs. I have to
close one pipe before reading from the other.
I know that there is a wonderful thing called Expect, but it's not...

When I try setting the bufsize on popen on windows I get the following error:
output = os.popen( "ls", 'r', 1 )
ValueError: popen() arg 3 must be -1
The same is true for popen2, popen3 and popen4.
Is this a known limitation? Intentional?
Are there plans to fix this? (Or at least the documentation)

After several attempts at solving this problem I thought I would ask the
gurus.
I wrote a python/wxPython application that calls os.popen to get
information from another executable. Basically this is a cute GUI app to
front end a commercial product.
The app works fine when I run it as a .py or .pyw application. But after
I build it to a .exe with py2exe and run it, it does not work. I put a
print statement after the 1st os.popen...

Trying to work around the lack of pexpect for native windows python I
had a play with os.popen2 and some threads. This looks promising
enough for what I want to do, but I hit on a problem with getting the
script to exit cleanly. Tried replacing popen with subprocess but I am
still confused. Either it needs to be killed from the task manager, or
I get a variety of different complaints and popping up "application
error" windows. I managed to...

seems to explicitly allow for this.

I run the following script:

from subprocess import *
Popen("ls -l")

(yeah, I have ls.exe on Windows)
Under Python 2.4.2, this simply dumped the results of ls.exe to the
terminal--sorry, to the "command shell".

I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
