Creating a Package

I have written an object to handle dealing with fixed and delimited records
[Note: This is the routine I talked about at PyCon and many wanted to me help
out but I lost your names. There's still work to be done so email me if you're
still interested].

Most of the version 1.0 heavy lifting is complete, but I need some help turning
the routine into a package and creating the install scripts for windows and
*nix.

If you want to help with the development of the package (and there's still a lot
I want to do), please get in touch. Look for it on sourceforge; the project
name is pyDataSegment. If someone can teach me how to turn this into a package
and/or create install scripts, please drop me a line. I think the routine will
be useful in the IT community; I have used it in one form or another for over 5
years and would like to give it to others.

Thanks for your help,
--greg

I've created a DTS package and now I need to distribute it to different servers. I've been looking for a way to automatically/programatically create a DTS package, but have not found anything definite. From the DTS package itself, I see where I can save the dts package as a structured file, with the name XXXXX.dts. Once I have that DTS file, how dow I turn it back into a dts package in Enterprise manager? I don't want to have to...

Hi, I have a VB6 COM dll compiled on an NT 4 sp6a server installed in an MTS package. I've exported this package to a windows 2000 machine where I've created a .net application and added a reference to the exported object. When I run the application it fails creating the object with an 'Access Denied' error. Is what I'm doing possible? ie. Creating objects compiled in NT4 and exported to Win2k? Thanks, Chris.

Hi all, I'm new to VB.net and have a question about creating the .exe file for my program. In VB6 you could just select 'Make .exe' from the File menu, but everything that I read about deploying an application in VB.net talks about creating an installer file. The application I created is very small (just a sample) and I don't want the user to have to install the program, just run an executable. Is there any way to do this in VB.net? ...

Hi, I am trying to create an SMS package using GetPDFData method. When I call this method it returns the PackageData object instance with C# object type ManagementBaseObject. Usually I call Put method on ManagementObject class to create an instance of the object. Since the GetPDFData method returns ManagementBaseObject object I could not call that method.

I am attempting to create an installation package for a 64 bit system with Visual Studio 2005. The machine on which I am compiling and creating the package is also 64 Bit. I have the 64 Bit .Net 2.0 Framework SDK along with the 64 Bit version of Oracle Client, and 64 Bit version of Oracle ODAC installed on the development machine. I have verified that I have MSI version 3 on the system as well. When I choose to compile for the 64 Bit...

This is NOT a complete OO perl tutorial However I thought it could be beneficial to explain some of the basic concepts, and allow some users to simplify the software design process. I have found it to be extremely useful and beneficial to create my own "custom" modules. It (among many other things) allows you to type less. Or to make your keystrokes matter more, however you look at it. (If you do even look at it.) Things the reader...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
