I've found a case where it seems that Python is importing two copies of a
module without any reason or indication. It took me a while to verify that
this is what is occuring: I had to write a __import__ hook to trace the
actual activity. The source code for the hook is below.
There are several examples of the problem in the trace; this is one
particularly juicy one.
-----------Part 1 ----------------
'0059' Import 'TypeAdapter'...

Hello,
I am going nuts. I am trying to connect to my local ORACLE instance using
ODBC.
It used to work few weeks ago, but it fails now.
Connection with:
- SQL*plus: connection works!
- DataDirect 5.0 Oracle Wire protocol (3rd party ODBC driver): connection
works when I hit the driver's "test connection"

Python Doc Problem Example
Quote from:
http://docs.python.org/lib/module-os.path.html
----------
split( path)
Split the pathname path into a pair, (head, tail) where tail is the
last pathname component and head is everything leading up to that. The
tail part will never contain a slash; if path ends in a slash, tail
will be empty. If there is no slash in path, head will be empty. If

I need to access some data on a server. I can access it directly using UNC
(i.e. \\ComputerName\ShareName\Path\FileName) or using a mapped network
drive resource (S:\Path\FileName).
Here is my problem: my vb.net program has problems with UNC. If the UNC
server is restarted or goes off-line, my VB.net program crashes. The code
for UNC access to the file is included below and is put in the tick event of
a form timer control running every...

Hi All,
I am using an API function, which takes file path as an input.
When file path contains special characters (@,#,$,%,&,^, etc), API function
gives an error as "Unable to open input file".
Same file path containing special characters works fine in one machine, but
doesn't work in other.
I am using following API function to get short file path.
Declare Auto Function GetShortPathName Lib "kernel32" (ByVal lpszLongPath As

Hi,
I am facing a different problem in my application. In that I am uploading a
folder that contain only images. Everything was done and was working fine
too. When I executed the application using the localhost it works fine. But
when my machine acts as a client and executes the application from another
machine (considered as the server) it is telling that the folder is not
found, even if the folder is present in the client machine. The...

Our web service was working fine until we installed .net Framework 1.1 service pack 1. Uninstalling SP1 is not an option because our largest customer says service packs marked as "critical" by Microsoft must be installed on their servers.
Now german Umlaute (ä, ü, ö) and quotes are returned incorrectly in SOAP fault responses.
This can be easily verified:
Implement the following in a web service method (just raises a SOAPException with a...

Hello All!
I may have posted this problem before, but it was awhile ago.
I'm working in VS 2003. I have 10 file watch process going. It seems that
I can only about 6or 7 to run at the same time. I made a test program to
isolate the problem from my program. Still same thing
Basicly I have one application creating a file, the other application
running the file watch procces. When a file with a certain extension is
created, then a form...

Before you respond with "just use GetShortPathName" please read the rest.
We have an application that places files on a file server using mapped
drives as it's path of choice. The reason for this is because using a UNC
paths makes the path longer, causing the periodic problem with a path that is
too long (over 260 chars).
We also have an asp.net app that needs to access those files. Accessing
mapped drives from an IIS application is...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
