Hi guys,
I have written a web service, but I want clients to be able to consume it
without having the .NET framework installed on their PC. The web service
doesn't return any values; it is just used to record requests: a user can
send their personal ID to the web service, and this is stored in a database.
Is is possible to launch this request from a hyperlink? What other options
have I got in terms of launching this service from a...

Hi,
We have a C# app that uis running as a service.
It uses a third party activeX dll that we us to capture events.
Because it is an activeX dll, we have to create our own message pump on a
thread (I Quite simple call application.run() on a new thread just after
creatign eh activeX component)..
All this works fine, but we have noticed that we are getting quite a memory
leak when running as a service.

Hi all! I'm not sure where to post this so I'm giving these a try. If there
is a better (more appropriate) place to post please let me know.
I want to create a service (in C#). The service's purpose is to monitor a
given service, and when the service becomes disabled and/or stopped I want
to restart the service.
I have figured out how to restart a stopped service by using the
ServiceController.Start() method.

My services shows once a while the infamous error "Service
Unavailable" (http 503 error). This error happens only if my asp.net
application encounters a problem with the SQL Server. In my case it
occured when my DB logs were full or the server administrator on the
shared server environment restarted the DB.
After my ISP restarts the DB, my services are still unavailable, which
means I have to connect myself to the webhosting panel and...

Hello all. I am very new to this and I don't know if VBA is the better route to go.
First and foremost I am running Access 2003.
I have a table in my Access database. This table is made up of three fields. The first being Date. The second being Day of the Week (ie. Sunday, Monday, etc.) and the third being holiday/weekend. Under the column holiday/weekend I have inputted a "Y" if it is a weekend or holiday; Else, I have a null value.

Hi,
I am trying to create a Windows Service for Vista/Server 2003/XP machines.
I used the Wizard in VS 2008 to create the basic service. I am using Visual
C++ and used the "Windows Service" template (Under CLR). It states that you
install the compiled service by typing:
MyService.exe -Install

I have a routine that's calculating business days but its not counting the
weekend days that are between the start date and end date. If my start date
is 9/26/08 and my end date is 10/01/08, I should see 4 business days and 2
weekend days.
How can I get that result? I'm getting 4 business days but its not counting
the weekend days?

I have a Windows Service that I need to put to sleep for about 10-20
minutes.
The problem is that if you try to shut it down during this time, it will
tell you that the service didn't respond in time and end up in a "Stopping"
state and there is nothing you can do until you reboot the system.
What I did to solve the problem was just set a flag in my Shutdown method
and set up a loop in my program to go to sleep for 1 minute at a time,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
