is there any website or book for learning If your refer to lists look at
the python tutorial http://www.python.org/doc/current/tut (section 3.1.4
and 5.1)

If you want array() look at the NumArray module:
http://stsdas.stsci.edu/numarray/num...tml/index.html

For beginner questions, refer to the python-tutor mailing list:
mailto:tu***@py thon.org

hi i'm learning python, and one area i'd use it for is data management in scientific computing. in the case i've tried i want to reformat a data file from a normalised list to a matrix with some sorted columns. to do this at the moment i am using perl, which is very easy to do, and i want to see if python is as easy. so, the data i am using is some epiphyte population abundance data for particular sites, and it looks like this:

I've posted a previous question about IDEs and got some good feedback, thanks, but it does seem that everyone has their own favourite IDE -- in other words, no IDE was repeatedly recommended. So, is there any data on the popularity of IDEs (most users), or is there a chart comparing the most popular versions. I'M NOT AFRAID TO SPEND SOME MONEY TO GET THE RIGHT IDE (but I don't want to change products once I've chosen).

I was a C Programmer for a while. Lately started to learn Python for one small project at school. I joined a small company where they use C++ for development. Can we use Python and C together ? I mean create some classes in Python and some number crunching algorithms coded in C (for speed) and integreate both of them. Could somebody just show a real small example or give pointers to the same.

Hello, I'm planning to use Python in order to teach a DSA (data structures and algorithms) course in an academic institute. If you could help out with the following questions, I'd sure appreciate it: 1. What exactly is a Python list? If one writes a, then is the complexity Theta(n)? If this is O(1), then why was the name "list" chosen? If this is indeed Theta(n), then what alternative should be used? (array does not seem suited for...

Hi Willy, Thank you very much for your work. C++ code doesnot make any serialization. So at runtime C# code gives an serialization error at "msg_file_s sa = (msg_file_s) bf.Deserialize(ms);" I thought that it is very hard to memory map structure array. I need both read and write memory mapped file at both side of C# and C++.

Hi, I need a structure to represent a set of integers. I also need to perform on this set some basic set operations, such as adding or removing elements, joining with other sets and checking for the presence of specific elements. I think that using Python sets would be the best choice, but I also need integers to be ordered inside the set and I've just found out that, instead, Python sets are unordered collections.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
