process the result.:

cx_Oracle is good.

There is also DCOracle.

cx_oracle rocks. I've used it on the two platforms you
mention with no problem whatsoever (you'll probably need
to build python+cx_oracl e from source on hp-ux, though)

Is it somebody out there who has made a migration from an Oracle server to an MySQL server?? The scenario is as simply: I've got a Oracle 8 server with a database with content that I want to transfer to a MySQL database. No special data, constraints etc that MySQL not will handle. My solution is to reverse engineer the database from ERStudio and then produce a SQL script that will insert the data into the MySQL engine. But I can't do...

Architecture: Access 2003 client, Oracle 9i repository, no Access security in place, ODBC linked tables. 100 or so users, in 3 or 4 groups (Oracle roles actually): Admins, Updaters and ReadOnly. Each group sees a different set of menu options when they open the client and login to Oracle. For the sake of speed I use pass-through queries here and there for updates and deletes. I update their SQL property in code and execute them.

The machine is running XP Pro with all the latest service packs, etc. I must access an Oracle database so I installed the Oracle client stuff. I can query Oracle from a Windows app, no problem. Using the exact same code (copy and paste) into a Web app I get the following error "Error while trying to retrieve text for error ORA-01019". Security I thought, so I use Impersonation on the Web site, then the aspnet_wp.exe crashes with "The...

I am working on an Access 2002/Oracle vba automated overnight process. The problem is there is one user with rights to a certian set of tables and another user with a certain set of tables. I can't run the overnight process with just one login. Currently, I am having problems with relogging into the database with a different login. Even when I enter a different userid and password into a connection string, the system seems to still use...

I'm a little confused about what's out there for database modules at: http://python.org/topics/database/modules.html What I'd like to do is use Python to access an Oracle 9.X database for exporting a series of tables into one aggregated table as a text file, for import into a mainframe database. The catch is that I'd like to write code that wouldn't need to be changed (much) if we switched from Oracle to some other RDBMS (still need to...

I was messing around with the native ODBC module (I am using Python in a Win32 environment), e.g: import dbi, odbc ....and it seems to meet my needs. I'd rather use a module that comes natively with Python if it works (don't care about performance in this particular use case; just that it works). The only issue I've had so far is retrieving data from Oracle when an

Hi, I have a few apps written in PHP, running on Fedora Core. After porting these applications from PostgreSQL to Oracle a bug appeared: sometimes, not in a reproducable manner, the web page does not appear in the browser and after examining the html source in the browser I notice that the code is cut in half, somewhere after about the first 3-4 kbytes. It happens quite often, once in every two minutes. The problem was not

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
