Dear all,
I wanna reload a script module after it's modified so that I can use
the new function immediately.
Is there any help for that? It's appreciated very much if any example
provided!
TIA

That's what the Python style guides advise. They don't seem to like
def frob(x):
import re
if re.search('sdfxyz', x): ...
instead preferring that you pollute your module's global namespace
with the names of all your imports. What's the point of that? It
gets worse when you want to do something like

I've found a case where it seems that Python is importing two copies of a
module without any reason or indication. It took me a while to verify that
this is what is occuring: I had to write a __import__ hook to trace the
actual activity. The source code for the hook is below.
There are several examples of the problem in the trace; this is...

This is even stranger: it makes it if I import the module a second time:
import dbimp as dbimp
import sys
if __name__ == "__main__":
dbimp.install()
#k = sys.modules.keys()
#k.sort()
#for kk in k:

I'm tearing my hair out at what seems like weird import behaviour I'm
getting from Python's stdlib test script, regrtest.py (not for the
first time: seem to have forgotten the resolution from last time, and
the time before, and the time before that, when this damn test script
of Python's had me screaming at the screen... I don't seem to be...

Hi there,
I have two scripts. The first "main.py" sets some variables
and then imports another called "gen.py". The idea is to
provide "main.py" that defines some paths, variables etc.
without using Windows environment variables. Various other "hackers"
will make additional Python scripts (subroutines) like "gen.py"
that utilize variables...

Near the beginning of file test_matrix.py from scipy are the lines
import scipy.base
reload(scipy.base)
from scipy.base import *
del sys.path
Could someone please explain why the first two lines were included? A
similar script I wrote works fine without them. Also, what is the
purpose of the "del" line? (I understand the mechanics of...

I'm using Python for what is becoming a sizeable project and I'm
already running into problems organizing code and importing packages.
I feel like the Python package system, in particular the isomorphism
between filesystem and namespace, doesn't seem very well suited for
big projects. However, I might not really understand the Pythonic way....

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it. ...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then...
