I have a Python/Tkinter remote control application and want to add
support for running user scripts.
I would like the scripts to be written in python, would like them to be
able to update Tkinter widgets and (the hard part) would also like them
to be capable of pausing until some condition is met (e.g. a remote
control command finishes) without hanging the event loop.
I plan to add a library of routines to send commands and wait for...

Hi all,
I've got an application that I'm writing that autogenerates python code
which I then execute with exec(). I know that this is not the best way to
run things, and I'm not 100% sure as to what I really should do. I've had a
look through Programming Python and the Python Cookbook, which have given me
ideas, but nothing has gelled yet, so I thought I'd put the question to the
community. But first, let me be a little more detailed...

I am starting the design phase of a large project (ERP) where the
backend will mostly be Python (or Ruby) providing web services.
In this type of usage, is there any benenfit to running under Apache
as opposed to a pure Python solution using Medusa, TwistedMatrix, or
the like?
Thanks,
Matt

Hello. I'm sure this has been asked before, but I can't find an answer
anywhere.
I want to create a truly "dynamic" app which can get new functions
"on-the-fly" and run them without having to re-start the main app.
I've found the code module that looks kind of hopefull. For instance
this works great:
import code

Hi,
Is it possible that a python script finds out whether another instance
of it is currently running or not?
Thank you,

Hi
I wonder if anyone can help me with a problem that I have with MSDE
SQL db. .
I have an app that runs on a server that communicates with remote
devices using email, this and other similar servers then sends
XML/SOAP messages to a master application.
I am in the process of intercepting these XML messages and forwarding

My editor is emacs in linux, and I have the python mode enabled. The two
menus -- IM-Python and Python -- allow me to navigate within the loaded
module and open execute buffers, among other things. But, I don't see a way
to run a wxPython application from within the editor as I would from the
command line.
Is this possible? If so, how?

Hello,
I know this issue pops up once in a while, but I haven't found a good
answer to it. I need to debug a long running application under
windows. The application is a combined java/python framework for
testing ECUs in the automotive industry. Basically, the Java GUI
(Eclipse-based) starts test-cases written in Python and provides the
console where the test-logs are seen. When there is a exception
somewhere in the testcases (or the...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
