GUI versions using PythonCard are available

Thanks, Tony, we long term newbies need to stick together ;-))

I just updated a few PythonCard versions of three of the modules from
askMerlin, and posted them in a link right below the askMerlin100.py
command line program. The PythonCard version of election.py in
particular is very easy and illustrates what these programs do. You
will have to install wxPython and PythonCard in order to use these, so
I provide links for that. I must say, creating these GUI's with
PythonCard was pretty simple, you might want to check out PythonCard.

On the other hand, command line programs have the advantage of
ultimate portatbility, they'll run anywhere Python runs.

The three GUI versions I posted are election.py, decider.py (general
purpose) and langchoose.py, for choosing a programming language.

A good exercise for any rank newbie would be to code a new module or
class, for use in making decisions in any area in which the particular
newbie feels reasonably knowledgable (as for instance, I felt expert
enough about deciding what to eat for lunch to code lunch.py ;-))))

Everyone has a few areas of expertise.

The programs are at http://www.awaretek.com/plf.html

Now, I am off to Cape Cod with my wife. Next Tuesday is our 25'th
wedding anniversary and we are celebrating with a four day weekend on
the cape.

Cheers,

Ron Stephens

Somebody know how make html forms or python forms inside html to use as gui application? The idea is make a client application like a web site of my interprise for customers who don't have good connection, in this way the customer can select the products off line and connect only to execute the shop. The use of HTML is to have the same paradigm to application and to site.

Hi All, I'm getting started with pythoncard. I'm wondering if there is any way to auto-place the gui elements that I use, so that they are all visible, and aligned? I would use the "layout/resource" editors, but I'm blind, so I can't see where the elements end up, and the controls for moving don't show up as usable controls in my screen reader. Any help is appreciated. Thanks Much,

I'm having some trouble starting PythonCard on my PC. I've downloaded and ran python-2.5.msi to install Python on my machine. And PythonCard-0.8.2.win32.exe to install PythonCard. When I try to run the program I get the following error: ====================================== C:\Python25\Lib\site-packages\PythonCard\tools \codeEditor>codeEditor.py Traceback (most recent call last):

Hi to all folks here, i downloaded and "playing" with PythonCard and i just want to share my thoughts so maybe we can discuss a little about it. I was used to wxGlade before and i think PythonCard is even better. I like the separate implementation of GUI and Code that PythonCard provides, i also like the "binding system" so you can bind functions to events and have them executed at runtime. I also like that it does not force you to use...

I'm curious to know what others think of these two frameworks for building wxPython apps. PythonCard has been around longer, but its development seems to have slowed. The last release, 0.8.2, has been out for quite awhile now. Dabo is newer and seems to have gathered a lot of buzz. Anyone try both? What's your preference and why? Is one more robust than the other?

For serveral years, I have been looking for a way to migrate away from desktop GUI/client-server programming onto the browser based network computing model of programming. Unfortunately, up until recently, browser based programs are very limited - due to the limitation of HTML itself. Eventhough PythonCard hasn't keep up with the latest widgets in wxpython, the programs so created still works a lot better - until now. If you look at...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
