A few days ago I had the highly pleasurable experience of studying Python's
garbage collecting code in gcmodule.c.
Naturally, I studied the code using a Leo outline. I have just uploaded this
outline to: http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...?group_id=3458
The outline is in pythonGC.leo.zi p in the Example Outlines section.
This outline makes clear just how good the code really is. I shall not soon
forget the dawning realization that this code is absolutely beautiful:
incredibly short, simple and elegant. There are hardly any if statements in
the core of the code! Those who want proof that Python is a brilliant piece
of engineering need look no further than gcmodule.c. To find such a gem at
the heart of Python is truly thrilling. I have studied a lot of programs in
my life; it doesn't get any better than this.
For the superb external documentation, see: http://www.arctrix.com/nas/python/gc/

This was my reaction when I first saw it also.

I am embedding python on Mac OSX (jaguar + panther) using
boost::python. It works like a treat, but when using a python framework
with asserts compiled in, I sometimes get an assert from gcmodule.c,
line 215 when compiling a script.
Modules/gcmodule.c:215: failed asserrtion `gc->gc.gc_refs ==
GC_REACHABLE'
This is maybe the third script I compile, so the python environment
should still be very clean.

I'm implementing some image processing algorithms in C++. I created a
class called 'image' (see declaration below), that will take care of the
memory allocations and some basic (mathematical) stuff. The class will
behave like a std::vector (copy constructor and assignment create a deep
copy), but with 2D indexing.
Now I also need a 'view' class that will behave like a reference to an
'image' (can only be constructed from an existing...

I just resolved a strange situation I was having with an ODBC linked SQL 7
view in an Access 2000 MDB file, and I'm trying to get some understanding as
to what happened.
The linked view was scrolling very slowly in the MDB file; however, it
scrolled very quickly when accessed through an ADP file. Theoretically,
since it's a server-side object, it should appear the same in both files,
but it didn't.
Not knowing what was causing this, I...

I previously posted re. this, but thought I'd try again with a summary of
facts.
I have an Access 2000 MDB with a SQL Server 7 back end. There is a view that
is linked to the database via ODBC and has been in place for several years
without any performance problems.
Recently I added a couple of fields to the output of the view, and it became
very slow when scrolling. When just opened in the database window, the
linked view takes about...

Has anyone tried to create a SQL7 view using the CREATE VIEW command
and ADO.NET? If so, is there a trick in trapping a SQL error when
trying to create the view? I have a VB.NET app that, amoung other
things, can create views based on existing tables and a table of
column name equivalents. If I accidently introduce a column name
equivalent that is the same as another column, I end up with a CREATE
VIEW SQL statement that is in error, if...

Hi,
I have had a lot of problems getting web pages, master pages and

but didn't have much luck. Anyway I believe I have found the causes of
the problems and thought I should share them in case any one else is
feeling the pain and also to find out what other peoples opinions are,
on whether these...

I had a strange situation with a view in SQL 7, that I could use some input
on.
I had a very simple view -- select a, b, c from table1 where x=y and z=q.
Field a in table1 originally was varchar 70. A long time ago I changed it to
varchar 95.
I used this view as an ODBC linked table in an Access MDB. Recently, there
was one row which has a value in field a that was more than 70 characters
long. This caused an error when the view as...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
