Hello all. After a search on Google it would seem that the users of Mingw have not had good results in compiling the python sources natively. See at least: http://uucode.com/texts/python-mingw/python-mingw.html Having said that, kindly allow me to report that Mingw32 can

Hi All, I'd like to use Python-2.3.4 on OSF1 V4.0, but have trouble installing. With a plain "./configure; make" build, I cannot import socket. If I uncomment the socketmodule in Modules/Setup, the build fails. Using gcc 3.4.2. Had no problem on OSF1 V5.1, Linux and Sun. Have not been able to find reference to a similar problem in...

So, I download the latest "stable" tar for perl (5.8.7) and try to compile it on the Solaris 8 (SPARC) box that I administrate. I try all sorts of different switches, but I can't get it to compile. I need it to be compiled with threads. Anyone have any wisdom on how best to do this? Here's a transcript of my latest attempt. It's long; you...

Hi, I encountered some build issues when compiling Python 2.4.4 on a Solaris 8 box using gcc 3.4.4: 1. Running configure detects that a C++-built main needs C++-linking. Therefore, Python gets linked with g++, creating a dependency on libstdc++. Some research showed up a rather elaborate discussion in the python-dev/c++-sig-archives,...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...
