Hi,
I'm using an access database and found following problem :
I have a table X with 2 records : record 1 & record 2. I execute following
procedure with 2 steps :
1. The procedure deletes records 1 : connection.execute "delete from X
record 1"
2. The procedure adds record 1 again using the recordset object.

have a data table that records entries by date(unix timestamp) and customer
number. each custnum will have several entries showing a running ledger type
snapshot. we have the need to get the most recent entry from not one, but all
unique customers, in the most cost effective manner.
Table "summary"
Attribute | Type | Modifier
-----------+---------+----------
custnum | integer |
date | integer |

Hi,
I'm now working with DB2, and I can't find out how to execute the
contents of a string Statement, without using a Java/... procedure,
only using SQL statements.
I know that some SQBDs such as SQL Server allows it as the exemple
bellow shows :
EXECUTE 'SELECT * FROM Test'
Is there any way to do so with DB2 ?

I am interested in finding out about Enterprise scale Postgres
installations and clustering, especially on Linux.
Essentially I would like to know the possibility that Postgres can store
the database data in a central location (ex: on a SAN fiber array) and
have a cluster of machines sharing processor/RAM/IO bandwidth to do the
application processing. Or perhaps there is another solution similar to
what www.emicnetworks.com have...

Hi,
I am a bit troubled with the row-level triggers which PostgreSQL
uses when using update table cpmmand.
For instance, if the primary key column has values 1,2,3,... and
i want to update the whole column as column = colunm + 1 , then there
is an error. This obviously works on databases such as mssql which has
row level triggers.
Any suggestions so that i do not have to modify the query and
still make it work in the postgresql database...

This thread was renamed. It used to be: "shared_buffers Question". The
old thread kind of died out. I'm hoping to get some more direction by
rephrasing the problem, along with some extra observations I've
recently made.
The core of the problem is that Postgres is filling up my hard drive
with swap files at the rate of around 3 to 7 GB per week (that's
Gigabytes not Megabytes) . At this rate it takes roughly two months to
fill up my 40...

How can I execute a query which prompt the user for input?
Something like
SELECT
FROM Table
WHERE Name=
In Oracle PL/SQL, you use & before variable names to have the SQL*Plus
ask for input.
In Postgres PLpg/SQL, I read that the EXECUTE statement should let you
do something like this, but I tried

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
