I am debugging an app which blocks many processes in a SQL7 server DB.
The app log writes every transaction "open" and "close".
The weird thing is : when the app logfile says the transaction is
dropped (object closed) the db keeps showing the process "running", in
a sleeping mode, with open_tran in 2 or even 3 and in an awaiting
command status.
We are working on NT4.0, SP6a (all fixes up to date, MDAC 2.7SP1) on
IIS side, an equal box...

Hi,
I have had a site working for the last 2 years and have had no problems
until at the weekend I replace my database server with a newer one. The
database migration went like a dream and I had the whole db changed over
in 1 hour.
Since the upgrade I have been getting the following error message
sporadically.

I want to do a series of inserts within a single transaction block, but with
postgresql if one insert fails, the whole block is aborted. Is there any
way to get around this behavior so that postgresql won't abort the entire
transaction if a single insert returns an error?

Does anyone see any problem with the loading a SqlConnection into the
System.Web.HttpContextCurrent.Items collection in a Page's Constructor. Then
Closing and Disposing of it the OnUnload method?
Connection would not be "Opened" until it was actually used (this is handled
by a common "Helper" class - similar to Microsoft's SqlHelper Application
Block), Ie:
public class MyPage : Page {
public MyPage() {

Hi:
After upgrading 7.4.2 to 7.4.5 quite smoothly in a Red Hat 8.0 box, we
are having intermitent issues with certain online PHP transactions,
returning this error:
"Warning: pg_exec() query failed: ERROR: current transaction is aborted,
commands ignored until end of transaction block"
Half the times we run the query we get the error, the other half it works.

Here are my requirements of the web service (.NET 1.1, XP/2003)
(1) It needs to call a COM+ application that has already been written and
deployed. The web service essentially becomes a client to the COM+
application.
(2) The web service needs to initiate a new transaction when calling the
COM+ application, then it needs to complete or abort EXPLICITLY.
A million dollar question.....

hi,
This is the error that we are getting on postgresql. The error is as follows:
current transaction is aborted. queries ignored until end of the transaction block.
What might be the real cause of the problem and how do we rectify it?
Any suggestions will be appreciable.

ONU (Optical Network Unit) is one of the key components for providing high-speed Internet services. Its primary function is to act as an endpoint device located at the user's premises. Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
