dumping on 7.4.6 importing on 7.4.1

Hi.
Is it possible to dump a database on a 7.4.6 server and then restore it
on a 7.4.1 server?

should i use the 7.4.1 pg_dump or the 7.4.6 pg_dump?
should i use any switches?

thanks

Should work, but why aren't you updating the 7.4.1 server? There were
some pretty nasty bugs fixed between .1 and .6.

problem is i dont have full power over that machine.
i will try to talk to the admin.
it's redhat 8.0 with postgresql installed from rpms, maybe there are new
rpms somewhere?
i could not find any official builds for rh8, does the rh9 rpms work?

Doubtful. What I'd recommend is getting the source RPM and building your
own binary RPMs --- that's pretty much certain to work. All you need
is
rpmbuild --rebuild --define='build8 1' postgresql-nnn.src.rpm

The pythonic way of programming requires, as far as I know, to spread a big application in plenty of more manageable scripts, using import or from ... import to connect the various modules. In some cases there is a further complication: module importing through an indirect mechanism, like: exec "from " + xxx + " import *". A part the fact that I have not understood the "real" difference between import and from ... import (or also from......

I am importing a .csv file into Access that has 37 fields. My problem is that sometimes the last field only has data at the end of the column (it looks like when you import a file into Access, for the last field, it only checks the top few 'cells' to see if there is any data, if not, the field is not imported). How do I 'force' Access to import the field, regardless if there is data in the top of the field or not? For instance, I might...

hello, i'm writing a c program on a linux system. i'm debugging a segmentation fault but i don't want it to dump a core file because the memory footprint of the program is over 300Mb and i don't need it to generate a 300Mb file every time I add a new printf statement to debug the code. can i do something to prevent it from dumping the core file even when it seg faults? (is this a unix/linux thing, or a c thing?) thanks!

Hi, I am trying to figure out how to use unmanaged code using P/Invoke. I wrote a simple function which takes in 2 buffers (one a byte buffer, one a char buffer) and copies the contents of the byte buffer into the character pointer. The code looks like the following: #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include "stdafx.h" BOOL APIENTRY DllMain( HANDLE hModule, DWORD ul_reason_for_call,

My Vis C++ program takes forever to exit. Reason: it is dumping potential memory leaks. I like finding leaks once a month, but not every time I run. How do I turn mem leak dumping off? I looked in help, and it said leak dumping is enabled with #define CRTDBG_MAP_ALLOC ... but I do not have that #define anywhere in my code. I _do_ have the /RTC1 (same as both /RTCs and /RTCu ) but the help for those says nothing about memory leaks;...

hi, I would like to know the command for dumping stored procedures. Thought that I knew the command and dumped the db using the -R option, only to realise that dumping of procedures had failed because of some delimiter problem. Now , I would like to transfer only the stored procedures. Also, I would like to know as to how I could dump the procedures because changing the delimiter to say $$ from the normal ; also doesn't help because it is...

Hi, I've found the following behaviour on importing a variable from a module somewhat odd. The behaviour is identical in Python 2.5 and 3.0b2. In summary, here's what happens. I have a module, oddmodule.py (below), that defines a variable, OddVariable, by assigning a value A to it. The file I execute, mainfile.py, imports and re-binds OddVariable to a value B. I have two test modules which import the

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
