weird issues with plpgsql calls.

Hi,

I've made up 2 plpgsql calls, the table and function schema is available at

http://www.bignose.ca/help/pg.txt

I call them like this

select ad_hits(33760);
select ad_inquiries(33 760);

i did an "update ad_base set hits = 0, inquiries = 0" to initialize both rows,
since i added them using alter table.

if i call ad_inquiries a few times, the number increments just fine,
but if i call
ad_hits, it increments hits like it should, but also sets inquiries to
zero. which
is very strange and annoying ;)

any help would be great, thanks !

PostgreSQL 7.3.4 on i386-unknown-freebsd5.1, compiled by GCC gcc (GCC)
3.2.2 [FreeBSD] 20030205 (release)

Hi All, I've written a few C functions in the version 1 format as well as some SPI based backend bits and I'm curious as to how PG treats these items when used within plpgsql. The set of functions control external processes. One function is called with various items governed by the db, does a fork and then execl to from the child to start a new process. Whilst it's not posix i ignore the SIGCHLD signal and let the parent process...

We are trying to make some things work with plpgsql. The problem is that I built several functions that call one another, and I thought that the way of calling it was just making the assign: var:=func1(arg1,arg2); which gave me an error near ")". Now if I did the same, but like this:

Hi, I have this mammoth stored procedure that can be called by our application. The aim of it is to perform maintenance operations on user information and it SHOULDN'T be called too often... but it may be under certain conditions. I was load testing our application and came across deadlocks being generated by this stored procedure. I then ran some load tests against the database/stored procedure itself and got even more.

I've got a bit of a strange problem that's causing me some MAJOR headaches. I'm developing the server-side of a large database application in PostgreSQL. This consists of a C daemon, and a LOT of stored functions in the database. I'm developing this in conjunction with another company, who is developing the the client side. I've got a 7.4 server that I'm developing on, and once a day I push my changes up to a common

Hi, Thought perhaps some other eyes than mine can tell if I'm doing something wrong here or if there's a bug somewhere. I've never passed a ROWTYPE varaible to a function but I don't see where the problem is. I keep getting errors like (the first is my debug output): NOTICE: last cycle is: 11 WARNING: Error occurred while executing PL/pgSQL function

Hi, I am trying to install OPenacs with postgres 7.4.3 as the database. The openacs requires plpgsql to be installed. When I try to do this by running "CREATELANG plpgsql template1". I get a message file plpgsql not found in lib directory.

FYI, mostly. But I do have questions as to how to write code that will continue to work in subsequent postgresql versions. See code below. begintest() uses EXIT to exit a BEGIN block from within nested loops. No problem. begintest2() simplifies this, omitting the nested loops. Still no problem.

Dear peoples, I've got a problem which seemed to be neatly solved by the use of schemas, and in fact it mostly works, but I have tried to go one step too far, perhaps. Rather than have the application do SET search_path TO f12057; SELECT * FROM parcel-owners WHERE ... ; SET search_path TO public;

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
