Hi
We are having issues with our application, certain portions of it stop
responding while the rest of the application is fine. I am attaching
the Java Core dump. If someone can let me know what the issue is.
Thanks

DB2 v7.2 (FP7 - DB2 v7.1.0.68) on AIX 5.2.0.0.
We're seeing unexpected single row (then commit) insert locking
behaviour.
We're seeing Applications that already hold row-level W locks in
lock-wait, waiting to acquire row-level X locks. The lock-waits are
behind applications that have row-level X locks on different rows
(honestly). Both executing and lock-waiting applications have been
granted IX table locks.

Hi,
I can not understend completely the lock statement.
Actally what is locked:
1. the part of the code between {...}
or
2. the object in lock()
In the docs is written:
for 1: The lock keyword marks a statement block as a critical section by
obtaining the mutual-exclusion lock for a given object, executing a

I have seen some debate but am not clear on what the problematic
implications of the expression lock(this) are. Microsoft seems to
advocate it, but others seem to be against it.
Pros and cons?

I need a simple multi-thread/process interlock mechanism, that works on
Windows and Linux. However, they have rather different mechanisms. I
put together a system that seems to me to work, and be simple, without
any OS intervention. However, I wanted to ask if anyone saw any
possible leakage. Here it is:
static volatile int lock = 0; // Variable for lock
void controlledAccess() // Function to control access

If you had asked me 5 years ago about the future of C++, I would have
told you that its future was assured for many years to come. Recently,
I have been starting to wonder.
I have been teaching C++ at a local polytechnical school here in
Vancouver, Canada for approximately 8 years. Six years ago, at the
height (or should I say volume?) of the internet bubble, I had 80+
students per semester in my C++ course. Now I am fortunate to have...

Hello,
I've written a high performance web app with C# and it completely relies on
static hash tables (using sync) and classes. Under real world stress this
app is handling 5 get requests per CPU per second.
I've gone from a single-core/single-proc, to a dual-core/single-proc to a
dual-core/dual-proc and as I suspected the number of requests per second per
CPU does not increase it remains at 5 per CPU.

Hi
I have to write a multi-threaded program. I decided to take an OO
approach to it. I had the idea to wrap up all of the thread functions
in a mix-in class called Threadable. Then when an object should run
in its own thread, it should implement this mix-in class. Does this
sound like plausible design decision?
I'm surprised that C++ doesn't have such functionality, say in its
STL. This absence of a thread/object relationship in...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
