I have a perl test program which has about 80 test cases, each of
which creates its own schema so I can remove them with DROP SCHEMA xxx
CASCADE. Normally each test case creates and drops the same schema,
but it can run a mode to preserve each schema and all the disk files
for each test. I recently changed my cleanup code to run psql with
all -c commands on one command line rather than a separate psql -c for

Under mysql, we have "desc tablename" to get the detail information
about a table. My question is about to get column name, and column type
for a specific table under PostgreSQL through JDBC.
Assume we have a table named "test". Under PSQL, we can input "\d test"
to see the details about table "test" successufully. However, my main

Hi all!
I'm writing a script that presents the user with a numbered lines
menu, each line corresponding to a <case n> which executes a psql
command. As the psql-commands are very similar to each other (all of
them have the structure:
1.- psql mydb -x -c "SELECT * FROM tb_nm WHERE col_nm LIKE '%$k_r%'" )
I thought it was possible to shorten it, initializing a str with said

string literal? For example ...

I haven't found a way to set the client encoding of a psql connection other
then "\encoding" which is arkward for batch processing. As .psqlrc is being
ignored during batch processing and the internal encoding is being set
*after* "-v", I have to resort to arkward solutions in order to read data via

I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
