CakePHP is a rapid development framework. You can use it create any kind of web applications. It's modeled after Ruby on Rails. So yes, you can use it to create a social website.

It will allow you to create your application lot quicker than if you were to hand code every feature set.

Ok ))) I've been recently watching some tutorials on it and I noticed that coding is different from PHP so in case to use it do you need to know specific CakePHP code/commands ?

Thanks for so quick response )))

CakePHP is a framework that will have the most common aspects of application development built in such as database handling, input validation, emails, authentication, cookies, caching, templating.

You'll have to learn how to access all those different parts of the code. There's a manual.
http://book.cakephp.org/

It's PHP but you'll need to know some basic PHP Object Oriented Programming to work with the code. Once you learn it, prototyping applications will be fast.
