Calling JSP with PHP?

88 New Member
Hi! I hope you are all well and happy! This is my second post so please approach with the utmost caution.

This question is kind of related to this question:
http://www.thescripts.com/forum/thread725740.html

While I'm still pondering how to do that, I started to investigate the web page -- that I want to abuse ;) -- in a attempt to identify how to make the request.

What I want to do is to invoke the search results with php. Now, the current site uses jsp for the search function (the form action attribute points to "search.jsp") and POST as the form method.

Isn't there a way to call the jsp function (wiith php) so that it will respond by generating the search result page?

As far as I figured POST is used to protect information that is being sent, not to hinder information being sent -- so I conclude that I should be able to sent a string to the search.jsp (and if all variables are correct) that will invoke the search result that I want.

... Right?

Heya, ManWithNoName.

According to the W3C, GET is for requesting data, while POST is for sending data. Sometimes, POST is used when GET is more ideologically appropriate because the data to be sent is long and/or sensitive (i.e., when you don't want it in your User's address bar).

You can access the search results page by sending an HTTP request just as if you were loading the page in your browser. I posted a response in your other thread with a link to an example of how to do this.
