positioning

K.
Hello all!

I have a question.
I have built a page. I would like to make my page better positioning in the
web searchers i.e. in google search browser.
There are many companies which do such things for $$$.
I would like to do by myself. Could you give me some examples which explain
how to modify the page to make it better in web browser positioning?

I have read that OpenDirectory is also good way to achieve it. I have
already added my page in O.D..

Thank you in advance

Just cooperate. Do not try to get all the world's attention, but specify
what your page has to offer. There are meta tags in HTML to do that, and
off course the content of your page should reflect this.

Try to be specific. If you write a page about a webserver, use "web
server" and not "internet", for instance.

Most bots (the trustworthy ones, anyway) respect the robots meta tag.
Use it.

Finally, like quite often is written:

If all else fails, consult the manual.

Google and a lot of other search engines have pages that specifically
state what they like and what they do not like.

Best regards,

I have created 2 web pages:

my portfolio www.zmyslowski.pl , where I placed in meta keywords such words:

Program komputerowy do Listy Przebojow, Program komputerowy do Listy
Przebojów, Program komputerowy dla Listy Przebojów, Program komputerowy dla
radia, Lista Przebojow, MS Access, programowanie, web developer, computer
programming, Marcin Zmyslowski, Marcin Zmyslowski, www.zmyslowski.pl,
Portfolio, informatyka, Bydgoszcz, Oracle, Delphi, ASP, PHP, tworzenie stron
www, PIK, muzyka, Politechnika Poznanska, Poznanska, Kamyk, radio, program
komputerowy dla radia

which means:

Computer program for Music Chart, Computer program for radio, Music Chart,
MS Access, programming, web developer, computer programming, Marcin
Zmyslowski, www.zmyslowski.pl, portfolio,
IT, Bydgoszcz (my home town), Oracle, Delphi, ASP, PHP, creating web pages,
music, Poznan University, Kamyk, radio,

Is it a good solution for meta keywords?
Does keywords order mean a lot for robots? Should I order these keywords
from the most meaning to less meaning?

Thank you in advance

Is your page a good resource for all those keywords? Must be a big page
then. If not, I would not consider this "cooperating" with the search
engine.

Yes, my page is good resource for all those keywords. I have checked in
google.pl i.e.

I typed:

programowanie Bydgoszcz

which means:

programming Bydgoszcz

(Bydgoszcz is my home town)

and my web page www.zmyslowski.pl is on the 3rd position, so I think it is
not so bad.

Does keywords order mean a lot for robots? Should I sort these keywords from
most meaning
to less meaning?

Kindest regards

The <meta name="keywords"element is ignored by virtually all search
engines.

My number one tip for building up traffic: produce lots of high-quality,
compelling content.

Search engines look for content - and determine you page rank from that.
Meta tags are cataloged - but don't play any role in the page ranking.

Other than that, try alt.internet.search-engines - where the SEO gurus
hang out.
