Multiple Fonts in Email Message?

24 New Member
Can a single email message contain more than one font?
Even a Microsoft Word doc with italics and bold cannot be sent properly.
It all ends up as a single same dull font.
Special html characters also become garbage.

My objective is to send a mailable letter, typed in MS Word, via email and have it appear exactly the same at the recipient's computer and printer, as though he had received it in a snail-mail envelope.

I send my emails through my website hosting server using php coding.
Is there a good tutorial on this anywhere?
Perhaps this is simply impossible?

If you want to send relyable formatting you have to go to HTML mailing.
Make the HTML in a var for the subject. You can then use the complete scope for HTML even CSS
beware that mailclients tend to block HTML mails as spam

I have just recompiled, upgraded to PHP 4.3.4. As an exercise (and curiosity) I've decided to test out PDF functions and got the test in the PHP online manual working. I had one problem whereby the example refered to Times New Roman - I didn't have this, but I did have Times-Roman which worked. My question - How do I know what fonts I...

Hello, I wrote a quick application to annotate some images and find that I would like to use different fonts. I am using Python 2.4 with the PIL extension to do this. Moreover I use the ImageDraw text method. I read the documentation on ImageFont and would like a pointer to some useful instructions on how to get various fonts. Or...

I have a bunch of custom fonts installed on my system. For instance if I look at the font drop-down in word pad I see about 90 fonts, but if I build an app using VS.Net, add a label, and try to change the font - I'm only given a choice of about 20 - the "standard" fonts which are installed with the OS (XP). How can I get the rest of my...

We moved some pages of Japanese, Korean and Chinese from one server to another. In doing so, the users with Windows XP could still see the Asian fonts. However, a user with Windows 2000 could no longer see the Asian fonts, but he could when the pages were on the other server. Can anyone think of why a Windows 2000 user could once see Asian...

Hi I am doing a project where I have to use multiple character sets for the input. They would be English, Symbol and possible Greek, These will be used as symbols for processing an algebraic expression. I need to input them and then display them on a windows screen. There is a total of 10 symbols not in the ASCII character set. This is...

Don't really want to embed fonts, it adds to the download time, although this may be my only choice. I am also not sure how the browsers handle families of fonts. I am using Arial and Sans-Serif for ALL the languages and the client sees empty squares instead of a language font until they install a particular culture. Embedding a whole...

While developing an internal IE6-only webapp, a discussion started about the 'best' way to apply classes to data tables across multiple pages. The two arguments were: 1. Apply a single class to each table. That class (possibly in combination with other classes on child elements) controls every part of the table - layout, colors, fonts, etc....

I'm trying to design my style sheets such that my pages have similar-looking fonts different platforms (Linux, Mac, Adobe, X-Windows, MS Windows, etc). The problem is, a font on one platform might be the same as a font on another platform, but with different names. I'd like to be able to specify the font names that are "most equivalent." ...

Hi I use JGoodies Forms to create a GUI application. I need to show a simple multiline description in the window. I use JLabel with html text like "<HTML... my description ... </HTML>". Because it's multiline, java never knows how much lines it contains and what is initial height of that component. When I add this do panel and show on...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. ...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then...
