is it a valid floating number

Hello, Using PHP 4, how do I check if a scalar variable is a valid
floating point number? I assume that the mpety string ("") would not
be considered a valid floating point number.

Thanks, - Dave

is_float($number)
an empty string will return false.
there is a whole series of is_ functions
try downloading the extended CHM manual (PHP documentation from php.net).
it's large (12MB) but it's nice.

Thanks, - Dave
